    Hi Imacri,

I was only curious; I download and install updates myself and I have noticed that recently when I tried to download a couple of updates they were beta. I do not install any BETA versions. Unless I am mistaken UCheck does not provide beta updates for Installed Supported Programs only for Installed Community Programs. I wish UCheck had the option to ignore BETA versions for all installed programs but at least for now, they do not. I do not believe I truly recognized how fortunate I was to have had the program SUMo. UCheck has come so far in such a short time they truly should be commended.

I'm looking to integrate EDGE and Powershell as supported, as many requested.
Does anybody know where to lookup for those software latest versions / download links ?
    Thanks,

    Hi @Tigzy:

Note that the download link for MS Edge that Soulreaver1977 suggested is for the enterprise edition of MS Edge called Edge for Business. The download page for the home consumer edition of MS Edge is at https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/edge/download.

The release notes and release history for the stable release of MS Edge (Current Channel) that most home consumers use can be found at https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/DeployEdge/microsoft-edge-relnote-stable-channel.

I have some concerns if you are planning to change MS Edge from a "Community" app to a fully supported (install / update / uninstall) "Compatible" app. The 13-Nov-2023 PC Magazine article Microsoft to Let European Users Uninstall Edge, Bing From Windows notes that there are changes coming in 2024 that will allow home consumers in the EU to uninstall MS Edge from their computer, but in North America MS Edge will continue to be closely integrated with the Win 10 / Win 11 OSs. I cannot uninstall MS Edge from the Control Panel (my only option is to Change / Repair), and I know of several users who said they had to use a specialized software uninstaller tool like Revo Uninstaller to remove MS Edge and then perform a registry tweak (see the 02-Feb-2023 Tom's Guide article How to Uninstall Microsoft Edge) to prevent MS Edge from being reinstalled by Windows Update.

    Hi @jpcummins :

If UCheck is recommending you update some of your programs to a BETA version then you can report this in the UCheck board of the Adlice forum at https://forum.adlice.com/index.php?board=4.0. See moderator Curson's Erroneous Detection / Application Support Request post pinned at the top of that board for instructions for attaching your latest UCheck scan log with your reply.

I don't know what algorithm Tigzy uses to determine when a new stable version is released for a "Community" app (e.g., when telemetry shows that more than 3% of users in the wider UCheck community have installed that newer version) but they might be able to tweak that algorithm so UCheck does a better job of distinguishing between stable and BETA releases. The more data users can provide about incorrect detection of BETA versions the easier it should be for Tigzy to improve the accuracy of their algorithm.

Also note that SUMo often incorrectly recommended BETA versions for some of my software programs like HWiNFO Portable and BleachBit Portable even though I had disabled detection of BETA versions in my SUMo settings. As soon as this happened I would report it in the SUMo board of the KC Softwares forum (see my 07-Oct-2023 report in the Beta Versions / Undue Notifications thread of the SUMo board for one example) and Kyle Katarn would have to manually edit the backend SUMo lookup database to correct the problem. That was labour-intensive and I assume that UCheck tends to be more prone to false detections of BETA versions because Tigzy is trying to use automated scripts, etc. to screen out BETA releases.

There is an issue with TurboTax products having annual releases. Intuits version numbering scheme begins with a three-digit preface designating the tax year (022 for 2022, etc.) UCheck is viewing a 2022 (022) version as obsolete if there is an 023 version for the similar 2023 product.

Hello everybody and Happy New Year!
I have only recently switched to Ucheck (and bought a license). I have a couple of questions, mostly trying to replicate SUMO conveniences. The answers might well be obvious but they are not to me :(. (If relevant, I am on W11 thus 64 bits)
    (1) Is there a simple way to run a program marked as needed updating? ( It seems to me that in most cases the easiest way to download an update, if one actually exists, is to run the program and check for updates from within, etc.) What I do right now, is search for the relevant program on my pc but a one click approach is a lot more convenient.
    (2) Is there a way to rescan a single program?

    Thank you! -- Ham

    (1) You can open a program from the Installed tab by right-clicking on the program, selecting the "Open Location" item, and then double-clicking on the the .exe file for the program to run it. There is currently no corresponding "Open Location" (or "Run Program") action available on the Updates tab to allow a user to launch an outdated program directly from the UCheck's Updates tab to check or update the program from its internal "Check for Update" function.

    (2) There is currently no capability in UCheck to rescan a single program. That feature has been requested by multiple users. The only option currently available to update the UCheck displays after updating a program or to check for updates of an individual program is to perform a complete rescan.

    Hi duf666:

Just an FYI that I am currently using the stable release of UCheck Free Portable 64-Bit v5.2.1.0 (released 28-Dec-2023) and live in Canada (official languages English and French) and I don't see that language translation glitch in the Theme dropdown list when my Language is set to English in UCheck.

UCheck v5_2_1_0 Portable Settings Theme in English 03 Jan 2024.png

If your problem persists after you toggle the Language setting in UCheck from English to French and then back to English (with a restart of UCheck after each setting change) then I'd suggest that you post about your problem in the UCheck forum at https://forum.adlice.com/index.php?board=4.0 or file a bug report at https://github.com/AdliceSoftware/UCheck/issues. Be sure to mention the Region (i.e., Belgium) and Language you selected in your Windows settings at Settings | Time & Language and whether you are using an installed or portable build of UCheck.

    Hi,
FYI I didn't change anything in the language of UCheck since I installed the first portable version 1 week before SUMo close.
My Windows settings are the same on my laptop since 2018...
I also remind you that I regularly got this "sorting" issue (with NO little arrow) without changing anything.
Although I use portable version, is there a place where some things are kept ?

P.S. I just tried to change language...

    First, just switch to Spanish

    000868.jpg

Then to German, close UCheck and open again:

    Hi duf666:

I've never installed UCheck (I've always used portable editions of the BETA or stable releases that I run from a removable USB stick) but there appear to be several locations where UCheck data is stored on my system, including the hidden folder at C:\ProgramData\UCheck\ and registry entries like HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Adlice Software\UCheck.

I don't know where the UCheck language settings are stored (the contents of C:\ProgramData\UCheck\config.ini cannot be viewed with a plain text editor like Notepad) so if no one else following this thread has any further suggestions I'd advise you file a bug report at https://github.com/AdliceSoftware/UCheck/issues.

I updated to the latest UCheck Portable 64-Bit v5.2.2.0 today (released 09-Jan-2024, release notes <here>) and noticed that UCheck is no longer incorrectly recommending BETA / Preview updates for my MS Edge (Stable Release Channel) browser. My up-to-date MS Edge v120.0.2210.121 (released 05-Jan-2024, release history <here>) is currently detected by UCheck as the latest available version.:thumb:

Unfortunately, the two bug reports (Issue # 9 and Issue #28) I filed on the Adlice GitHub site that are mentioned in the quote above have been closed as "won't fix" so it doesn't appear that there are any plans to fix these problems in a future release of UCheck.

    1) Depends if the program is supported or a community update.
If supported => Either check it for bulk update, or "Action" menu "Update", or "Action" menu and "Download", then "Install"
If community => Click on "Open search" and lookup for the official website to download the installer and execute it.

    2) It was answered to this already, a rescan is automatically done after a supported app is updated. Now the status is displayed, and tells if the update did succeed or not.

I was alerted today, (1/11, 12:01 p.m. Eastern Time) by the "Software Updater" QuickInstaller that Google Chrome had an update. I went to the Google Chrome website and downloaded and installed the update Version 120.0.6099.217 (Official Build 64). No mention of this update on UCheck even though according to UCheck, Google Chrome is supported. Any idea why? And, shouldn't the "Latest" number be larger or equal to the "Version" number? UCheck is now reporting the Google Chrome "Version" number as 120.0.6099.217 and the "Latest" number as 120.0.6099.200.

    Hi jpcummins:

See my 12-Jan-2024 post in mrhappy1525's Microsoft Edge (32-bit), version 120.0.2210.77 in Adlice's UCheck forum. That 17-Dec-2023 topic is about MS Edge (Chromium) but the same comments apply to Google Chrome and the way that the ~ 250 fully supported "Compatible" programs on the UCheck software list at https://www.adlice.com/ucheck-software-list/ use automated bots that crawl the web to find documentation about the latest version [i.e., as opposed to "Community" programs that use telemetry data collected from the wider UCheck community, which is generally a much faster (but potentially less accurate) method of finding the latest version].

I believe the staff at Adlice would like incorrect version detections to be reported in their UCheck forum at https://forum.adlice.com/index.php?board=4.0. See Moderator Curson's post ==> Erroneous detection / Application support request <== that is pinned at the top of that forum for posting instructions.

Chrome was picked up just a couple hours after your post. Sometimes you just need to wait a bit :)
