No issues with updates nor afterwards.

I noticed a new option "Get the latest updates as soon as they are available", is this referring to the Preview updates?

    @deugniet & @anon
Thx, it's clear. Although I liked the old approach of being able to choose which preview update to install. As I understand it now, if you enable "get latest updates" you get all of them without the option to reject some updates.

After a recent Windows update, HitmanPro is unable to finish default scan on my computers (Windows 10 and 11).

After yesterday's patch, at the end of the reboot before opening the Desktop there was a Blue Window asking me to complete my Profile regarding the regular Backup of the PC... or something of the kind.
I clicked on "remind me in 3 days" because it was late and I didn't want to click on "Continue"
    Did it happen to others?

Confirmed with Win10 22H2 build 19045.3693 too. Installed November updates, but not yet December.

HitmanPro normally needs about 50 +/- seconds to complete (SSD) and after the "bork" it takes anything between 15-22 minutes. Reinstalled HitmanPro and on first run it took ~ 10 minutes. Go figure...

Maybe it's fixed (by Sofos) as I just ran HitmanPro twice and each time I logged 46 seconds. Back to normal it seems (#7912). Hope it holds.

Quick question about Windows updates. Not just from this month, but for quite awhile now. I normally run the disk cleanup wizard after Windows Updates. For quite some time now, it does not seem to clean up very much. I always select the option to Clean Up System Files but it never picks up anything any longer. Has this been broken for awhile now or am I missing something? I never seem to be able to gain any space back after the monthly updates have been installed.

    Thanks!

At least on Windows 10, it is not broken, but for me it has never done a through job of removing all the Windows update junk left over. I use Glary Utilities after disk cleanup to get a more thorough cleanup.

You can try Glary's free version and see if it helps:

I don't use Windows 11, but I seem to remember reading somewhere that Windows 11 has a new tool to do disk cleanup called storage sense. I believe its in the main settings app. That may help in case you do not want to use third party cleanup tools.

It was unrelated to Windows updates, we had some cloud performance degradation, all should be back to normal now.

I tried to upgrade my winre.wim manually using Reagentc /disable, then copying and replacing the new winre.wim file to C:\Windows\System32\Recovery and using Reagentc /enable.

Reagentc reported that it was successful, but the Reagentc /info was showing that the Windows RE location was now in partition3. It was in partition4 prior to that.

The odd thing was that TeraByte OS Deployment Tool was still showing Windows RE in 04.
Macrium Reflect and MiniTool Partition Wizard was now showing a whole heap of free space in the 600 MB recovery partition. I think they were reporting only 14 MB of space used. The recovery partition also appeared to be in the same position. Disk Management was showing similar results.

I then realised that the new Winre.wim files are 673 MB (en-gb) and 665 MB (en-us), so that may have caused the problem.

Has your recovery partition now changed from 600 MB to 720 MB?

I made a system image prior to doing all that, and have since restored it.

My RE partition is now 830 MiB with 90 MiB of Free Space.

I did an upgrade from the ISO. The ISO was opened in Windows Explorer and I ran setup.exe. It's time consuming but you get a few extra GB of free space in the OS partition so I think it's worthwhile.

You probably did this with tbosdtw64.exe (admin)(assuming it's drive 0)....

    Code:
    list hd 0 /f /u /w /a=2048 /s /t
You can do it before and after the upgrade to look at the RE partition size and free space.

I think it's ridiculous how Microsoft don't make it easier for people to update their winre.wim. People rely on it, but some are still using very old versions. They could at least automate an update.
