Just as a check: is the beta ready to detect updates available on portable?
IMO makes more sense to submit request when things are ready to go, but maybe is more efficient for you guys to receive request in this stage.

Here the results of my last test (some minutes ago) running the last Beta

This is the situation about programs installed


Minor things:
On some programs their architecture is not detected properly. They are detected as 32 bits instead of 64. Some examples:
FreeFileSync, Chrome, HandBrake, MKVToolNix, PatchCleaner, qBittorrent, Skype, WinCDEmu,

I found a link in the main page that leads to the last report (in white so almost invisible).
Don't know if is made on purpose

The way Snappy Driver updates itself is downloading new SDIO*.exe files (where 758 is the version).

Can you give an example of a setting you configured in a previous version of UCheck Portable that cannot be changed in the user interface at History & Settings? For example, did you exclude a software program in a previous version of UCheck Portable that is no longer listed at History & Settings | Exclusions?

Please for all that is holy, I will not update utorrent. No attempt at excluding or otherwise ignoring this software has allowed me to avoid UCheck detecting it and asking me to update. How in the world do I actually ignore it?

 

If you want to permanently exclude this application, select Exclude. To skip this particular update, select Skip this update.

Kudos for getting bug tracking up and running.

I'm testing the latest UCheck Free Portable BETA v5.0.5.0 offered 17-Nov-2023 in post # 1085 which I run from a removable USB stick with Administrator rights.

I currently have the latest stable release of MS Office Click-to-Run (Microsoft 365 C2R, MS Office 2016 / 2019 / 2021 C2R) Version 2310 / Build 16924.20150 released on 14-Nov-2023 but UCheck is recommending I update to the BETA (Insider Preview) Version 2311 / Build 17029.20028. Should we use the bug tracker to report this type of incorrect version detection in the backend database or would you prefer that the bug tracker only be used to report bugs in the functionality of the UCheck software itself?

Macrium Reflect is a good example of how relying solely on the registry data gets it wrong. UCheck shows v8.1.7336 installed with 8.1.7675 latest. Trouble is: 8.1.7762 is actually installed.

 

I've done that, literally every time it comes up. Excluding either crashes UCheck or doesn't exclude the software. Utorrent updates almost daily, skipping updates wouldn't be helpful. I wonder why excluding isn't working for this sw specifically? Is it because it's installed in Appdata?

Well, again, if the uninstall entry doesn't expose its location for example with "Icon" data, there's no way to find the binary with proper version

Just a warning that CCleaner v6.18.10824 was pulled shortly after release because of a license activation bug in CCleaner Pro. The builds page at https://www.ccleaner.com/ccleaner/builds currently shows that v6.17.10746 is the latest release (although some of those download buttons are still incorrectly offering buggy v6.18.10824 installers). Status updates are being posted in TheOwner's Why was CCleaner 6.18 removed from download? in the CCleaner forum.

Malwarebytes still hasn't posted any official documentation about the latest Malwarebytes v4.6.6 on their Release History & News page even though v4.6.6 was released on 09-Nov-2023 per employee H4VOC's forum post <here>. Malwarebytes is a fully supported "Compatible" program that is listed in the UCheck Software List so UCheck's automated bots that crawl the Malwarebytes site won't detect that a new update has been released until Malwarebytes revises their official documentation.

I have tried to submit the crash report automatically, but it always fails. I have an older version of utorrent installed intentionally across many machines, they all have the same issue where it cannot be ignored. I can share a report if it's of interest, what version?

 

SUMo managed to do it. InstallLocation may be missing, but it can be inferred from UninstallString. Of course, that is a more complicated way to find the executable, and there may be rare cases where it doesn't hold true, but there is a way that works in most cases.

I fixed an issue where scheduled scan was firing during an on demand scan and stopping it

 

Not always, sometimes UninstallString is just an msiexec command. It really depends.
Also uninstall command isn't the main binary, so it requires some extra logic to find it.
