    Indeed, this portable app behaves like a self-extractible NullSoft installer. However given the original name we can maybe exclude this.

    Taking inspiration from the exchange with Soulreaver1977, I checked the debug data for the latest portables that I'm missing and found these:

    2023/11/16 11:05:23:DEBUG [UCheck::SearchWellKnownLocation] Found app: C:\Programmi Portable\DNS Jumper\DnsJumper.exe
    2023/11/16 11:05:23:DEBUG [UCheck::SearchWellKnownLocation] App is uninteresting, filtering: C:\Programmi Portable\DNS Jumper\DnsJumper.exe

    2023/11/16 11:05:23:DEBUG [UCheck::SearchWellKnownLocation] Found app: C:\Programmi Portable\Edge Block\EdgeBlock_x64.exe
    2023/11/16 11:05:23:DEBUG [UCheck::SearchWellKnownLocation] App is uninteresting, filtering: C:\Programmi Portable\Edge Block\EdgeBlock_x64.exe

    2023/11/16 11:05:24:DEBUG [UCheck::SearchWellKnownLocation] Found app: C:\Programmi Portable\RogueKiller\RogueKiller_portable64.exe
    2023/11/16 11:05:24:DEBUG [UCheck::SearchWellKnownLocation] App is uninteresting, filtering: C:\Programmi Portable\RogueKiller\RogueKiller_portable64.exe

    It would be nice to have them visible; If it helps, these three programs are contained in the files I've sent you a few days ago.
    Thanks

    This will make problems in the future I think. There are a lot Portable Apps which are "installed" as a paf by Nullsoft Installer.

    Looks like you are on an older BETA... Those logs have changed, can you retry with latest ?

    Look like the "Legal trademarks" field always contains portableapps.com + "trademark of Rare ideas"

    I have checked portable apps from different sources and at least all of them have the string %portable% in their legal trademark description:

    But why is "Nullsoft" making a portable app "uninteresting"? I think it should be no problem if it is included. I understand that it is a kind of installer, but in this case it's only moving the software automatically to the portable folder...

    In most cases you would like to not list "installers" for portable applications, in this case NullSoft is dual-use, it's a "real" installer and in this case a glorified "extractor".
    As this is a BETA Work-in-progress the decision was probably made to exclude NullSoft based on real installer packages, so now this shows up, exactly why a BETA version is released ;)

    Hello.
    Thank's for your dedicated work. It looks promising, but I have a few questions.

    1/ Could you make it possible to hide/show columns?

    2/ Regarding portable apps from PortableApps.com
    When you extract them, you get the folder structure below.

    PortableApps.png
    uCheck shows them like this.
    uCheck.png

    While SUMo apparently can see through the "Launcher" and detect the "Actual program" version.

    SUMo.png

    Is it possible for uCheck to do this in the same way. It will make the exclusion process much easier.

    Found UCheck doesn't know if NVIDIA driver installed is Game or Studio. My one is Studio and not always released at the same time as the Game ones. My installed is the current version.

    I have 115 portable apps from many sources and all of them have the "Launcher(s)" in the root folder.
    So may be for portable apps the sub-folders are all "uninteresting"? Only an idea!!!

    Of course I can imagine that it will be difficult to figure out what the root-folder is, this depends on the users folder structure.
    But it should always be the first folder containing executables. I don't know how difficult it is to define such a filter...

    Not sure How SUMo does this, but I'm sure it's very specific. But I'll see if this launcher has some PE characteristics we can use

    Hi there,
    I've downloaded (just to be sure) again the last beta Tigzy, Yesterday at 6:19 PM

    I run a new scan and I see the same entries I saw before

    2023/11/16 12:28:17:DEBUG [UCheck::SearchWellKnownLocation] App is uninteresting, filtering: C:\Programmi Portable\DNS Jumper\DnsJumper.exe

    You should have another line just before each one of them, saying the reason why it's filtered out.
    EDIT: It's either that or they have no version info... But I doubt for RogueKiller

    If it helps, here is a quick supplement of checks on these missing portables based on the details of each .exe file

    Cattura1.PNG

    In addition, the Webcamoid program, which was previously detected, has disappeared with the new beta version

    It was pointed out by another user (@digenfr1) that the problem was that the only file in the folder had been excluded by me. That was the issue. When I changed the filter to display excluded files, the details did show up OK. So... not a bug, just my ignorance of how it would work.

    Thanks!

    This happened to me again today when I started up UCheck This was on an initial scan automatically done when the program started. Both Installed and Portable tabs are empty and all column widths reverted to default.

    The problem with RogueKiller is that the language set for VersionInfo is different than for StringTable... We'll fix that for our software, but I've added another method to get the version info in any case regarless of the language code

    I suspect the scan starts too early... We'll check that

    Hi @Tigzy :

    Your latest BETA has created a new problem with Revo Uninstaller Free Portable v2.4.5

    I am testing the latest UCheck Free Portable BETA v5.0.5.0 offered 14-Nov-2023 in post # 973, and one of the tweaks you made recently has broken detection of Revo Uninstaller Free Portable v2.4.5 on my removable USB stick.

    Instead of displaying the 32-bit (x86) version of RevoUn.exe under the wrong directory as I reported 14-Nov-2023 in post # 954 (which you fixed in the previous BETA - see my post # 976), the treeview of my Revo Uninstall folder with the latest 15-Nov-2023 BETA is now blank and doesn't detect any executables.

    Here's an excerpt from today's scan log at C:\ProgramData\UCheck\Debug\UCheck_debug.log (NOTE: I don't see any mention in today's log of my RevoUPort.exe v2.0.0.0 file located in the root E:\Portable\Revo Uninstaller 2_4_5 folder).

    With this newest beta I'm still seeing a couple of problems.

    1. The portable version of UCheck is still not showing up on the Portable tab.
    2. Column widths are still not sticky on the Installed tab, but seem to be on the Portable tab.

    Here are what my columns were before I did a scan.

    image1.jpg

    Here they are after doing a scan.

    image2.jpg

    Note that the Program column has been made a lot wider pushing the Latest column partially off the window.
