Avast and AVG did really well. Is there still a reason for them to be separate at this point?

Branding. You'd be surprised how often I see people praising Avast and saying AVG is trash and the the other way around as well.

Plenty of FPs for Norton as usual.

Protection aside, is there any difference in features or appearance of the AVs?

One sells 50% of your personal data, and the other sells the other 50% of your personal data.

LOL, good one! I also thought about dumping Windows Defender for some other third party AV, but I simply don't trust them. I have always feared they were tracking you, so I wasn't surprised about the Avast scandal. These guys needs to make money and don't care about your privacy, let's face it. And I also don't really trust Win Defender, but it's part of Windows, so M$ has got other ways of tracking you anyway.

And now that Norton owns them, I refuse to use any of that brand (including Avira, which I loved)
