I have UCheck (Premium) 5.0.4.0 64-bit. When I choose Windows from the Main Menu and select Hide Optional, when I leave the program and return later the checkmark has disappeared and I have to choose Hide Optional again. It would make sense if the selection would stay selected, wouldn't it?

Just an FYI for users who have been testing the UCheck BETA v5.0.4.0 released 25-Oct-2023 (i.e., downloaded from the link in Tigzy's post # 640) :

The stable release of UCheck v5.0.4.0 was released yesterday on 02-Nov-2023 and is available for download at https://www.adlice.com/ucheck/. The change log has been posted at https://www.adlice.com/docs/ucheck/release-notes/changelog/.

I had no idea a new stable version had been released because the past two BETAs offered in this thread have also been v5.0.4.0, and when I launched the BETA version today it did not detect that a new stable release was available. I deleted the old UCheck64.exe BETA I downloaded in October and downloaded a fresh copy of UCheck64.exe (the stable 64-bit UCheck Free Portable v5.0.4.0) from https://www.adlice.com/ucheck/ today just in case there's a difference between the BETA and stable executables for v5.0.4.0.

    @Tigzy :

If you're going to release BETA versions in future it would be less confusing for beta testers if every new release of UCheck (BETA and stable) had a unique version number.

There is definitely difference in code between the 5.0.4.0 beta and stable (e.g. no community query for excluded applications).
It would have been nice if the version no was bumped to e.g. 5.0.5.0 or 5.0.4.1 to make this more clear.

Ah looks like I misread the question, my bad.

CommunityList works on your end, but that wasn't the question, I guess when you have community enabled the report function becomes sort of obsolete, but not sure if this was a design decision.
Haven't tested but perhaps it's only available if Community setting is disabled.

    2023/11/04 07:59:04 DEBUG [UCheck::GetCommunityList] Found 45442 community programs.

I have a PC, a Surface Go and also a Surface Pro (the laptops are used by my family).
Therefore, I started to replace all installed applications with their portable pendants (it is surprising, how many applications are also available as portable versions).
I store these portable applications on OneDrive, so they are available on all 3 devices, and I need to update them only once.
Most portable applications store the settings in the folder of the portable EXE (or a subfolder of the EXE), so I also have the same settings on all devices.

I also have the portable version of UCheck x64 stored on OneDrive.
Unfortunately, the settings are stored in C:\ProgramData\UCheck
Please store the settings in a sub-folder of the portable EXE, so the settings are available on all devices.

    EDIT
Please store also the License Information (I bought UCheck) on the portable folder.

No, but some time age I had a look at it and it seemed rather difficult to get it running.

That said, I don't really need it, because Linux Mint is my main system and its package manager (apt) is extremely easy to use. :)
I do have some Windows VM's on which I install and update programs the traditional way.

I had SUMo Pro, but never got the EOL email until I wrote yesterday to ask why they were offline for 24 hours. While I also use PMPC -- it didn't cover as much as SUMo -- I'm giving UCheck free a try for starters and am confused. The Dashboard shows 42 updates pending, but all except a couple have dark navy backgrounds, which if I understand must mean that the program needs to be restarted running as admin. At least, that's what the notice up top says, although I'm not sure what "bulk updates" means in this case. In any event, when I do restart with Run as Admin nothing changes, and download is not a choice with right click. How does this work? I'm using a Win 10 Pro x64 desktop and I'm the single user/admin. Thanks,

P.S. On the UCheck home page, down below where there are three subscription levels, the Download button for the Free version just opens the same page in a new tab. I didn't try the others.

    Hi highstream:

I'm also an ex-SUMo user and I've only been testing UCheck for a few weeks so hopefully someone will jump in if any of my comments below are incorrect. Also see the online user manual at https://www.adlice.com/docs/ucheck/ for more information.

If I run a UCheck scan and go to the Installed tab I see 48 programs divided into four categories:
    • 5 Compatible (blue highlight) programs - 7-Zip, iTunes, Malwarebytes, Microsoft OneDrive and Firefox. These are installed programs included in the UCheck Software List and are fully supported (version check / update / install / uninstall). The latest version number is determined by automated bots that crawl the software developer's website to look for documentation about new releases.
    • 1 Portable (purple highlight) app - AdwCleaner. They are similar to Compatible programs but these are special software builds usually distributed as a single .exe or .zip file. They are not installed on the hard drive and can be run from any location, including a removable USB stick. Note that AdwCleaner is currently the only Portable app supported by UCheck but this list is expected to expand soon.
    • 21 Community (grey highlight) programs. These are installed programs that are not fully supported (version check / uninstall). The latest version number is based on telemetry data collected from the wider UCheck community (i.e., the same method used by SUMo).
    • 21 Unsupported (no highlight) programs. These installed programs can be uninstalled from UCheck but there is no check for the latest available version.
If I filter the programs on my Installed tab to hide Unsupported programs and Excluded programs (i.e., programs I selected for UCheck to ignore) and sort by STATUS I can see I have 1 outdated Portable (purple highlight) program (AdwCleaner) and 5 outdated Community (grey highlight) programs (Apple Mobile Device Support, 3 programs related to my Epson printer, and Microsoft Office Home and Business 2019).

UCheck v5_0_4_0 Installed Tab 1 Portable 5 Community Programs Outdated 04 Nov 2023.png

When I go to the Updates tab my 5 outdated Community programs now have a dark blue background. Since UCheck cannot automatically update Community apps my only option is to click the Open Search link. This launches my default Firefox browser and runs a search for the program name, but it is up to me to browse to the correct home page of the program and find the latest available installer. Alternately, I can launch the outdated Community program and run a check for updates (e.g., Help | About or Help | Check for Updates) to use the program's built-in updater.

However, my outdated Portable AdwCleaner v7.4.2 app has no background colour and a check box, which indicates it can selected for updating before clicking the Update Selected button. If I had several Compatible and Portable programs that needed updating but I didn't want to do a bulk installation I could also expand the Action dropdown and choose Update to update each program manually.

Tried UCheck on a few PC’s of family members this week. Results are a bit better than on mine, but still many false positives (suggesting “updates” that are already installed).

Also the (delayed) pop-up ad for other software from Alice is super annoying.

SUMo was great; I hope that UCheck can reach that level one day, but it will be a painful ride (for ex-SUMo users).

UCheck shows me the following updates:

    upload_2023-11-5_10-2-56.png

    Microsoft 365 - de-de (64-bit), version 16.0.16924.20124
When I start Excel and check for updates, I get the message shown, that no new versions are available.

    NVIDIA Grafiktreiber 546.01 (64-bit), version 546.01
I started GeForce Experience and checked for updates of the NVIDIA driver, also no updates found.

    Cyberpunk 2077 (32-bit), version 2.02
    Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty (32-bit), version 2.02

I started GOG GALAXY and checked for updates of Cyberpunk 2077, also no updates found.

    MailWasherPro (32-bit), version 7.12.173
I started MailWasher Pro and checked for updates, also no updates found.
At the Download Page of MailWasher Pro there is also just version 7.12.173 available.
I know the COO Firetrust in person, so I know, that they release beta versions to some users, but these beta versions are not yet public.

All these reported updates are not officially available.
It seems, that they all are false positives.

    Microsoft Edge WebView2-Laufzeit (32-bit), version 118.0.2088.76
Can anybody tell me, how I can update this?
Microsoft Edge itself tells me, that there are no updates available.

Canon IJ Printer Assistant Tool (32-bit), version 1.00.1.51
Here really an update is available, but Canon makes it really not easy to download and update their apps.
There is unfortunately no update-tool from Canon available.

Canon IJ Scan Utility (32-bit), version 1.4.0.16
I went to the download page of this tool for my printer:
    https://www.canon.de/support/consum...3-1331737&os=all&productTcmUri=tcm:83-1604907
Here I get the message, that this tool does not support the selected OS (here I tried all versions of Windows) and is therefore not available.
    This one is really strange!
    Does anybody have an idea?

    Hello.
    Thanks for a great program.
The only thing I really, really miss, is a keyboard shortcut/hotkey for the "Scan" function.
Is that something you could consider?

17029.20000 is beta channel, totally wrong
same here. a higher number does not include a usable version, the nvidia driver page is best!
you need to exclude nvidia in any case.
as noted it is not able to run properly with current state of msedgeview.
really? how are they leaked? by guessing like i did?
regular windows do or the mswebview updater (like the edge update). if you have disabled it with tweaks, revert it. or look here regularly:
    WebView2 - Microsoft Edge Developer
edge is not webview. overall: dont mess with edge or its updates.
this is GOG special, not regular.

You need - as SUMo had - a setting "Allow Beta Versions" and also flag Beta-Versions as "Beta".
Like Microsoft 365 17029.20000 or NVIDIA Graphics Driver 550.09.

It is useful to get informed by UCheck about new NVIDIA Graphics Drivers and then updating them by GeForce Experience.

They release new versions of MailWasher Pro to some users, that have issues with some mail accounts.
This can be a smaller group, but also be a group of 20-30 users.
Later they publish this version officially.
I also have access to the newest version, but I use the current officially released version, to avoid confusing other users of UCheck.

I have enabled the updates of "Other Microsoft Products", I just wondered, why UCheck tells me, that there is a new version available, but when I check for Updates in Edge and also in Windows, nothing is updated.

Maybe the Microsoft Edge WebView2-Runtime 119.0.2151.44 is also Beta?

I know, that they re different products and I only update them via the Windows Updates and the Update-Check in MS-Edge.

You mean: Cyberpunk 2077 displays version 2.02 if it is installed via GOG and a different version number, if it is installed via Steam?

this do not work for edge or edgewebview. and no, v119...44 is final, please check the edge thread in this forum!

GOG is not steam, thats all i can say. gog builds are drm and steam free, paid or not. steam is bundled to steam, you cant mix such games in parts.

So, how is the Microsoft Edge WebView2-Runtime normally updated?

I know Steam and GOG very well, using them for many years now (Steam since it was released with HL2).

The issues here are: I have the GOG version of Cyberpunk 2077 and this version us up-to-date.
Here UCheck detects the installed version 2.02 (what is correct) but offers an update to version 4940722.6460039.0.
I know that I can exclude Cyberpunk 2077 from UCheck, but this is not a solution for all users.

    with its updater? like edge?
check tasks and services. if not working, you should consider those as tweaked or corrupted. if services then set it to automatic.

Edge Update has 2 services, 2 tasks, and an entry in "logon" (autoruns).

check it out and correct it!

Is this an Excel sheet, you made yourself or an additional tool you are using?

    Edit
It looks like an Excel, where you gather data from multiple sources to detect errors in UCheck.
Can you provide this Excel / Application to other users, so we all help making UCheck better and better?

    Hi there,
It is simple Excel, manually fed from time to time. I simply use PowerShell on my computer with "winget update", so nothing so structured
