It got solved by doing a backup in the recovery environment, then it could see the os in the destination section and i could use the earlier image.

I wouldn’t be surprised if others have the same problem with failed WinRE updates and don’t realize it. It’s difficult to spot because the monthly windows update completes successfully. I only found out about it because I check the event log on a regular basis. It appears in the log as a critical error, Event ID 4502 for WinREAgent.

Something I have noticed on my Win 11 Dell laptop.

I made a thread here a short while ago asking about the 'Power on Lid Open' feature. I left the feature enabled.

    https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/power-on-lid-open-feature.452232/#post-3159167

I always remove the power lead after I shutdown. When I open the lid without the power being plugged in, the Macrium Boot menu is there but often doesn't count down and open Windows, I have to select Win 11 in the boot menu.

If I plug the power lead in before I open the lid, the Macrium boot menu counts down correctly and opens Win 11.

The laptop battery is charged and relays that correctly.

Just passing on my findings :)

The boot menu countdown is cancelled if the user provides any input. The idea is that if the user does nothing, something should happen automatically, but if they at least start doing something, then their intentions shouldn’t be overridden by the countdown expiring after they started taking action. I’m not sure what’s going on with the power, and I doubt it’s truly a factor, but I suspect what’s happening is that something in your test methodology is registering as input and therefore stopping the countdown.

All I do is plug in the power, open the lid and wait for the countdown to finish and Windows to load. I touch nothing, do nothing.
If I plug in the power as I am opening the lid, that's when the countdown ends up not loading windows automatically, and I have to select Windows manually.

Perhaps Macrium does see the plugging in of power (as the lid opens) as an input.

I know what causes it on my Win 11 laptop, but I just thought I'd mention it in case anyone else ever sees the countdown not finishing up with Windows booting automatically.

To be clear, the boot menu interface and operation has nothing to do with Reflect. That is Windows Boot Manager. Reflect merely has an option to add a boot option to the BCD, and the menu appears when there is more than just the single default entry to boot Windows. But the operation of Windows Boot Manager is not something that Reflect controls.

Well Macrium is listed in the boot manager and if I don't plug in the power lead of this ''Power on Lid Open' laptop before I lift the lid, it seems to revert to me choosing Win 11 manually as the countdown doesn't work as it should.

    Anyway, thanks for the posts.

I'm not sure why it happens, but I've experienced it with all imaging software, such as Macrium, EaseUS, Aomei, and Hasleo. I doubt Windows rather than imaging software. It also sometimes happens after a Windows update. Experienced the issue with both Win 10 and 11.

I've a laptop with a dead battery and one with a healthy battery. I keep Power ON Lid Open (BIOS) and Fast Startup both disabled and always shut down the laptop. Experienced the issue whether I booted the laptop on battery, with the power cord attached (ON/OFF), or with/without external devices attached.

I experience the issue occasionally. I hadn't moved or touched the laptop, mouse, or other parts whenever it happened.

Hmm, no update yet for the free version. I know that they are not supporting it anymore, but they said they will push updates for security issues at least until the end of 2023.

And regarding the changelog, there is one security issue to fix:

This driver seems to be used by the Free version as well. Just checked and I have it on my system.

it is sad to note that, after three days, Macrium has not released the fix for the free version despite its claims :(

Using the latest paid version and wanted to redo the rescue stick. Tried it twice and while the stick was created successfully, I am unable to boot. I am getting the error message: "your pc / device needs to be repaired.... a kernel is missing or contains errors and referencing windows/systems32/ntoskrnl.exe and Error: 0xc000a004
I believe this only refers to the rescue stick and not my pc. Fortunately, my previous macrium stick still allows me to boot in recovery mode and I also have a Terabyte stick, but ideally I would like to have the Macrium stick with the recent info available as necessary. Any idea what is going on?
