Since this seems to be a manual fix each time and won't be done programmatically, I will no longer report it and just use the skip button. Thanks anyway.

Yes, i'm OK but unfortunately, we had to take this hard decision. Thank you for having enjoyed SUMo and other software for about 2 decades !
Any recommendations on good alternatives to SUMo to be suggested to other users ?

 

Bit of a disaster for me personally, nothing else will plug that gap (for portables especially).

Edit: SUMo probably my most used 3rd party software.

 

I also use this software daily. Very sad.

 

Publishing a modified version of SUMo allowing use of a "customer" server address + a "stub" of the server implementation (php interface and SQL data model) could allow a 3rd party to make the "current" SUMo still working. But this is definitively not demonstrated feasible for the time being.

 

Yes, please. I am sure someone from GitHub could take care of it. SUMo/DUMo need some love.

Curious:

1. Does that server automatically update version information based on info from SUMo clients that connect to it?
2. Does this mean it makes no sense to run your own personal instance just for yourself? (Only your own SUMo client connecting to it)

1 : Exactly, SUMo uses a "pseudo consensus" based on the sum of anonymized data
2 : Exactly, if the on premise instance is used by 1 single user, it will return that everything is always up to data

Note : This would require the company running a custom instance of the server to do the "beta tagging", or to allow any user to do it

 

I tried both PatchMyPC and UCheck, which only found six "compatible" apps; SUMo has always found more than 100 apps, many of which are portable apps.

Same here. I have used SUMo at least once or twice a day.

 

Well this sucks, I have yet to find anything comparable.

 

I can't find an alternative to sumo software. There are no similar programs. There are very simple software

 

Neither can I.

 

I bought the SUMo Pro Lifetime in the beginning of 2019. I have to say got my moneys worth for 5 years. Sorry to see this happen to this software. Thank you @Kyle_Katarn for all the hard work you put into this software. Wish you the best.

Regarding alternative, did you try any ? Any recommendations ? PatchMyPC, UCheck, UpdateHub, Chocolatey, Scoop, .... ?
