    You could, with a Pi-Hole.

I will look into this, I suppose it can also perhaps block ads on Tubi and Pluto TV? I know it's not completely fair to these services, and I would actually like to pay for services like YouTube, Tubi and Pluto TV. The problem is that YouTube hasn't got enough content when it comes to movies, while Tubi does, but Tubi doesn't have any premium account, same with Plex. Those ads are annoying as hell! And BTW, both Tubi and Pluto refuse to offer streams in HD quality, are they kidding me?

Maybe look for the "DNS settings" menu in your smart tv. You could try to enter an add blocking DNS server there. For pluto it worked quite ok for me the two times I used it. YouTube may be a more difficult different problem.

YouTube tests restricting ad blocker users to 3 video views.

So far I've had no problems using New Pipe on Android and Invidious on desktop.

All of a sudden I can't get YouTube to open at all unless I disable uBO.

I found disabling the "AdGuard Annoyances" lists allows YouTube to work, and so far without ads!

Edit: I just purged my Filter lists and updated them. YouTube is working as normal again.

    Firefox on Win10.

Haven't seen any of these prompts yet, but few days ago ads were playing at beginning
of YouTube videos with uBO installed.

YouTube is now breaking Invidious -- most videos won't play if the "proxy" option is selected, and some instances are noting that they're being blocked.

youtube has also changed (again) its consent code. neither ublock nor two different extensions can handle it currently.

Got an experience with this schmutz for the first time today. I was watching a video when a little before halfway thru and without warning, there was an ad from Disney that ran for about 30 sec before suddenly returning to the video.

If a content blocker could deal w/this, it's a miracle worker. If anyone is interested--edit: but it may be regional this time so not everyone can see the ad (lucky you):

    Sneaky, Google. Verrry sneaky. :cautious:

    @plat,
Under "...more", the info says: "Presented by #AnimalsUpClose with Bertie Gregory on Disney+".
I guess the Disney+ part is part of the video, I doubt it was added by YouTube.
Perhaps SponsorBlock can help, but I know too little about SponsorBlock to know if that can be an option.

Likely. I have seen a lot of "sponsored" videos where the commercial is part of the video. Not much to do but drag the little slider across and skip it. Unless it is something you are interested in.

OK, xxJackxx and Stupendous Man. Will keep an eye out for more shenanigans--wow, did not know this could get this serious. I still remember the ads starting at the beg. of the video and you could click to skip. The "good old days." :'(

D+ is in the video, im am sure yt did not inserted it, more the "dodo" maker, you will see at the end of video. i've this more than once on different channels.

btw it was "consent blocker" extension in firefox which cause YT to show the consent, pity.

The reason for a lot of these is on otherwise demonetized channels where YouTube isn't paying them anything. A 3rd party sponsor will give them money to insert the commercial in the middle of the video. Or sometimes it's just extra money for someone that isn't demonetized. For someone that is this is pretty much they only way they can make money.

Or could it be that the one who posted, The Dodo, simply copied the Disney+ video including the commercial?

I wonder what would be the efficacy of someone creating a program/executable for regular people, that e.g. edits the hosts file to prevent the ads IP's from being connected to.
At this point I figured someone would create something similar to O&O ShutUp 10 where you can disable stuff with just one click.

I think in most cases a lot of ad blockers are already blocking ad network IPs. Certainly an ad blocking DNS service like AdGuard DNS already does something similar. It would probably be wasted time to create something that would essentially be a duplicate effort.

    not relevant for firefox+ublock.
i uses hosts file for a very basic filtering, but any ad blocker is far beyond.
and i have doubt that a small list will help you out, you must have a million entries to get lucky, which will make windows because of dns service very sluggy while booting. and dns service is mandatory to get win10/11 working.

    looks like a co-production.

Just got my first dose of in-your-face "shame on you for using an adblocker" notice from YouTube. Like others got in the past. At first I just looked at it like: et tu Brute? But then there's this wonderful, liberating X in the upper right hand corner. Nag for subscription begone! Although will it return? :doubt:
