Well, Firefox must have done something to keep me logged in because this update didn't log me out of any of my websites that I'm logged into. I haven't done anything to my settings also.:)

    I uninstalled Firefox.
My experience with this browser is over.
    I prefer to use Edge.
With Firefox I have less functionality than Edge.

I'm glad I updated laterally from 115 to 115 ESR, sparing me from these constant point updates that usually don't apply to my system anyway. The Portable Apps version of the ESR file is also about half the size of the regular release, and the whole ESR installation takes up 200 MB less than the regular one on my rather small SSD.

    sorry, but thats not true.

program folder: 115ESR > 217 megs, 116.0.2 > 223 megs. (the maintenance service not included).
and you should know that the whole portable contains also the profile which includes the cache.

It makes a difference to me because I'm on a very slow connection:

In this image, the file sizes are incorrect, especially the ESR file size, which is 10 times smaller than the actual size. Probably they forgot to write the last place.
But why the paf installers are different sizes, it's because the regular version includes both 32-bit Firefox and 64-bit Firefox, but ESR only includes the 64-bit version.
Of course, you don't need both, i.e. both the 32-bit version and the 64-bit version, and you're free to delete the one you don't need. But it is worth remembering that if you have a 64-bit OS, 64-bit Firefox will also be searched for, and you may have a problem if you want to use the 32-bit version. (Actually Firefox hasn't had this problem so far).
And also, the size of the package(s) does not affect the speed of your internet or computer in any way, affects only the free disk capacity.

The ESR downloads a lot faster for me on my landlord's abysmal 1.5 Mb connection, and the whole thing, incl. the profile, is 400 MB on the disk vs. 600 MB for the regular build, which saves 1% of the space on my small SSD.

Not true, you are probably not comparing Default Profile data but the profile where are already your some extensions added. By default they are both equal and both have a value 320 MB.

i have compared the true installed values (x64 only), not a compress file - you are fooling yourself.
and you did not see that 115 is x64 only while 116 contain both x86 and x64. you forgot to scroll down and read the whole text:
the text for esr is wrong, it does not contain both builds - see image below

    close, but not also true.
    a fresh profile from v116 hast 46megs here, v115esr has 32meg. (both without \cache2\)

my manually cleaned up profile for 115esr has 205megs (was 115 before), my also cleaned v116 has 125megs (was 115 before). profiles were splitted and this size after splitting.

if you feel more comfortable to save bandwith, thats ok, but your conclusion only on viewing/visiting is refused.

btw p-apps has a typo, its never "21megs installed" ;)
see image! values are in bytes so this is minimum without the overhead from p-apps starter itself

PS the starter is not working properly, i have written this before in this forum.

On Kubuntu, in Discover (package manager, software center), if I look at Installed, Firefox snap, it shows: Version: 117.0-2. So I suppose that's RC2.
I guess that info can also be found using terminal or some other application, but I don't know about that.

AFAIK 117.0 is the most recent release on Ubuntu.
