We're gonna have some nerdy fun today. This be a review and mini-tutorial of MX Snapshot system imaging and backup tool and MX Live USB Maker ISO writing utility, part of the MX Tools set in the MX Linux distribution, explaining how to create bootable editions of user's installed MX Linux system for backup and redeployment purposes, including customization, data exclusion, optional encryption, cloning, live media persistence, practical example and testing, and other cool tricks. Enjoy. https://www.dedoimedo.com/computers/mx-snapshot.html Cheers, Mrk
@Mrkvonic Agreed, MX Snapshot is a fantastic tool for creating a live usb using Live USB Maker, and for system recovery. Edit I noticed in your article you were wondering how the LUKS encryption comes into play. Well it works as advertised. If the checkbox is selected, it will ask you to input and verify a passphrase, then your usb drive will be encrypted, so that if you boot from it you will be prompted for the passphrase early in the boot process. On my dual-boot with Windows 11 laptop, I encrypted the /home partition with no issues.
Thank you folks! @wat0114, I use luks on installed systems, just wondered what it would be like for a live usb device. Mrk
My MX-21 Live USB is also encrypted. Same as with an installed system, you're prompted for the passphrase early in the boot process.
