For the peope who are into stock trading, or simply want to help out. Can you check if JStock works on your system? I get an error and the new version won't launch at all. The old version does launch but can't retrieve stock qoutes from Yahoo Finance. https://jstock.org/download.html (scroll down for download link)
And for the people who wonder what JStock is about, here is a review: https://daytradereview.com/jstock-review/
I get an error message, this is on Win 10 1909 Home, see screenshot. Perhaps you can check it out, simply install it and see if you can launch it. And if you can launch it, try to add some stock quotes like TSLA, NFLX, AMZN and see if it retrieves the latest stock info. To clarify, I get this with the 1.0.7.60 version, the older 1.0.7.59 does launch, but it stopped working correctly, it couldn't retrieve the stock quotes, as mentioned earlier. The strange thing is that the old JStock does seem to connect out, but perhaps Yahoo Finance has changed stuff. You can download the older version from SnapFiles and the official GitHub site: https://www.snapfiles.com/downloads/jstock/dljstock.html https://github.com/yccheok/jstock/releases
I haven't tried running it yet. There are suggested troubleshooting steps in the following article from Microsoft. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us...-or-file-46361133-47ed-6967-c13e-e75d3cc29657
if a windows restart from boot wont help then you should get familiar with a windows repair. and in fact i do not wonder because windows 1909 got out of support 2 years ago (may, 11th 2021), and you mentioned you do not install updates then your 1909 is 4 years without any update. the cve list for 1909 and unfixed critical issues is longer than my arm, 154 unresolved issues since EOL. https://www.cvedetails.com/vulnerab...sion_id-640738/Microsoft-Windows-10-1909.html
Thanks, the problem was somehow caused by Windows Defender's ''advanced ransomware protection'' feature, but it strangely enough didn't give me any alert. I could only find it in WD's protection history, where it was described as ''Risky action blocked'' and with no way to exclude JStock. I wonder what triggered this protection, very weird. I disabled this feature via the ConfigureDefender tool. JStock runs just fine now. Thanks, but I already explained, on home user machines it's a non issue.
