    They are doing this because they are afraid of Wall Street. They need to maintain a certain level of growth, both when it comes to revenue and profit, or their stockprice will go down, which will make the board of directors less rich, it's crazy when you think about it. On the other hand, perhaps they did overhire a bit in the recent years. But interesting to read that according to some studies, sacking lots of people won't actually improve things, at least not always.

    Laying off people to cut costs seems like a vicious circle. I don't have a solution but on a large enough scale I would assume a larger problem is coming.
