Paragon Backup Program also 'had' and maybe still does ther own "proprietary" backup VSS of sorts. In times past when Windows VSS wasn't quite reliable i always used Paragon's and my image backups AND restores came off with a single hitch. Of course that was many years ago now. I had a curiosity that Terabyte also made a reliable substitute in PhyLock.
They all worked fairly well with the FileSystem lock... what they never did was integrate that locking mechanism with apps that considered database consistency important, like just about every database tool on the market. With VSS, MicroSloth offered the ability to have those tasks register as "VSS Writers"... programs that felt the need to flush their non-disk-based databases to the disk prior to the lock being set. Important database apps did just that, making their databases consistent. It would never have worked if every imager and their mother tried to do the same thing... chaos.
A few days ago a Hasleo restore deleted all 13 partitions on my primary NVMe drive. I had a 56 GB entire drive backup image. This was restored in IFL. It took 58 seconds. NVMe to NVMe.
That sounds serious, Brian. Lucky you had the entire drive backed up. I always do an entire (all partitions) system drive backup.
Version 3.57 is working well. I had to look up the user manual to understand what some of the following changes mean. Not sure if I'll use any of them, but either way, it's a great image backup application. I don't normally have to do a reboot when upgrading this, but this time I had to on all my computers. I don't use ProtectIt, so I'm not sure why.
Wanted Launcher to run custom applications under WinPE, approximate analogue of TeraByte's TBLauncher.
I use this one and it seems fine to me. Also searched for an alternative and found Q-Dir and tried Q-Dir_Portable_x64.zip for 64-Bit (x64) Windows. Take a look if you like: http://www.softwareok.com/?Download=Q-Dir
I don't know whether one exists or not but TBLauncher can actually run custom applications under TBWinPE.
This will also work, but I decided not to touch the system folders, so I did something else. In the root of boot.wim I create a folder CustomApps, in which I copy subfolders with portable software, among them the folder TBLauncher with its two files. In the root of boot.wim create a shortcut to TBLauncher.exe. That's all, the result is excellent. Note that all shortcuts and paths must refer to drive X, not C, D, F etc.
hi why ? and not total commander it's shareware ,xyplorer there is a free version ,Multi Commander (very powerfull and 100% free and portable) or Double Commander ? don't they work under winpe? about Double Commander , i don't know if it's safe thanks
I just tested it, and this problem with the black screen and the hourglass is still there with TBWinRE. After waiting for about 5 minutes, it comes good. That's using TeraByte Image for Windows v3.57, Windows 11 Version 22H2 (Build 22621.1631) and the following Winre.wim details. Maybe this new feature in v3.58 might help as a workaround.
I haven't tested it yet. I just made my boot media and there has been another update. It's now v3.58a. I'm not even sure what the above change means. I assume you can choose your own Winre.wim to build with.
This is not related to Terabyte Unlimited Image for Windows software. You should've created a new thread for your query.
