Try to mount this image and check the folder with Windows Defender, as well as with the offline scanner of a decent antivirus vendor. The detected file can be sent to vendors for analysis, it might be a virus, a false positive, or just a PUA Potentially Unwanted Program that does not carry a threat. Check it on virustotal. The file or the entire backup can be added to an antivirus exception, but I don't remember if this is possible with Windows Defender.
It was very small (< 250 Kb) and contained only 2 Grub related files (grldr and menu.lst). I have added an exclusion to Windows Defender. This image file was created in 2017... Weird that Defender only now starts complaining about it!
For the record, the link to see the latest release notes for V8 is http://updates.macrium.com/reflect/v8/latest_release_notes.asp As of this writing, that still goes to the page for 8.1.7387. The fact that @aldist or whoever might have found a page about another version doesn’t mean that it has been pulled, or that Macrium is having technical difficulties rolling it out. It just means they prepared notes for another release. (Psst! There are release note pages for beta releases too! But that doesn’t mean typical users should have expected to see those offered to them either….) It was nice seeing posts here about updates a while back, with release notes embedded right into the post. But those came when Macrium had actually published the update. Now it seems that being first has become a greater priority than being useful and has even detracted from that latter goal. Are people just testing URLs with higher build numbers just to see what returns a result?
The reason that discussion blew up last time was that some were being prompted for the update and then it didn't download. It wasn't purely based on notes.
It so happens I installed that release on one machine and updated rescue media before they pulled it. Decided to leave well enough alone and never had a bit of trouble.
Macrium has said a few times that their CDN can take a while to fully replicate their content. So they can either hold release notes until everyone can get the update, in which case those who see it early will see an update with no release notes available for it, or else they can publish release notes upfront and then some eager beavers will wonder why they aren't being offered that new update RIGHT THIS VERY SECOND. Between the two, I think Macrium is making the right choice there.
First, there is no reason it has to work either of those ways. Second, there is no reason to yell at people for discussing questions they have about a product. Even if you disagree.
Updated and tested hot restore, no issues and seems definitely faster, restored 90 GB in 2:10 minutes.
Can I disable CBT on USB hard disks only? I do not find this option, it is not yet implemented? Has the future not yet come?
Hi, I'm also dealing with disabling network access from the bootable Macrium (I made a separate thread, assuming this one is for the general discussion). How do you know which files/folders to delete? I opened the boot.wim in NTLite and there are like 30 different inf files listed for network drivers (but the free version of NTLite doesn't let me delete them).
Hello, CD Rescue stuck for ever when booting from a DVD media Please help Macrium Reflect 8 Home v8.1.7401 Ms Win 10 v22H2 ( OS Build 19045.2728 ) Thanks Camelia
Causes can be a low quality dvd disc or a faulty DVD drive (laser head is worn out or dirty). Do not use rewritable RW disks. Check your Rescue.iso by emulating booting from it using Qemu Simple Boot or WinSetupFromUSB (Test in QEMU > GO), that way you will exclude DVD and DVD-ROM from the chain. Test booting from your disk on another computer, or burn the disk on another computer and test booting from it on your computer. You can try downloading a third-party iso from the net, burn it to a disk and boot.
