Eh. Not really other than the stuff in Triple Helix's screenshot in #523. GW users can check on how many other users are as smart as they are. Or mark Chrome as untrusted. Sorta like WOT. And for the Anomaly Detection. (That ! alert shows for my local NAS, which makes sense.) Anyway, an FYI for teh members, lurkers and posers alike, pricing structure and Free vs Premium feature sets: https://www.glasswire.com/pricing/
@Surt Thanks for your reply. I have since found out this: Quoting Katie_GlassWire @glasswire.com: "currently the features GlassWire Score and Anomaly Detection can only be functional if the endpoint is authorized with an account." As everything else works, I won't bother creating a Online Account, for these changes.
GlassWire Version 3.3.495 - (March 9, 2023) GlassWire Score and Anomaly detection can now function without the app login authentication. Users can select to disable advanced analytic features via a splash screen before proceeding to use the app. Feature to disable automatic upgrade. * UI improvements to the Firewall. Device detection auto-scan feature moved to Things tab. Upgrade to paid version pop up reduced to appear once a month. Other UI improvements. Bug fixes. * Looooong, as in years, overdue.
Glasswire version 3.3.498 - VirusTotal Update https://forum.glasswire.com/t/virustotal-update/15077 "VirusTotal has recently changed the terms of its licensing agreement for using their API within GlassWire which has effectively broken the integration as it had been implemented up to version 3.3.495 of GlassWire. In order to continue using the integration you will now need to obtain your own Personal API key directly from VirusTotal and link it to your GlassWire application. You can do so thanks to new functionality we have introduced from version 3.3.498. The new integration involves some small initial manual setup (only a couple of minutes) which is explained below. Personal API keys are free of charge for up to 500 queries per day and are issued directly from VirusTotal. Once generated, this API key can be added across multiple endpoints (up to a maximum of 500 calls per day). Once an API key has been linked to your GlassWire app, it will remain linked even after upgrading to new versions of GlassWire. If you need more than 500 queries per day, you can purchase more capacity from VirusTotal directly."
Version 3.3.498 - (March 23, 2023) • The VirusTotal Update as reported by Tinstaafl in post #530 • UI Improvements • Minor bug fixes ------------------------------------------------- Wow. It's been at least 6-7 years since I got a key for Hitman back in the free version days and it still works!
I have not tried it in a while, does it allow custom rules per ports/IP ranges or is it still a simple allow/block? Thanks.
GW is setup to allow/block by program. No custom port/IP rules. GW sets the allow/block rules in Windows Firewall for you. The strongest point of GW in my opinion, and the reason I got it, is for the traffic monitoring features. Watching what programs connect where, and how much up/down bandwidth used is of interest to me. Everything on my system is trusted, so most of it gets allowed. I do use block on a few programs to stop their "phone home" behavior, as long as it doesn't break them by doing so.
I have 132 blocked programs, probably a third being MS. I also enjoy the simplicity of toggling a rule as well as turning the firewall off altogether as that presents the default Windows Defender Firewall in that GW rules are {GlassWire.out.app_1011888961.profile_1.mode_2} which exist with and not over WDF rules. (You can see what program the .app_# is in the rule properties. And you can't modify 'em.) But a great and overlooked in feature discussions of GW is the set of SECURITY MODULES: https://www.wilderssecurity.com/posts/2804423/ I would like to block individual IPs and ports (like 8080). Building WDF rules can be done, but inconvenient to manage vs GW. I do recall reading somewhere that "custom" rules might be available in a future version of GW. Fingers crossed.
I thought unchecking the "Disable automatic updates" setting would do away with this nag: But nooooooooo. Though there's a Skip Version which wasn't available in the past. I had for a long time squashed the nag altogether somehow and to save my life I can't remember how. So, I'm wondering if a Skip Version is just a "skip version for today" and it'll nag again tomorrow. I don't see the need for .499. I don't trust in-app updaters and prefer to run the setup exe. Wait & see...
I hit "Skip Version" for the new update and haven't been prompted again. If it is literally working as it appears to be, this should defer update prompts until the next update is released. We'll see, but so far so good!
Same here. But the thing is, I don't want to see it at all. I could swear there was a thread about squashing it in their forum and it worked, but no matter how I word the search there are no results. I wouldn't put it past them if they removed it. Not maliciously I hope, but maybe changes in the code would render the method inoperative. Worse yet, crash the service or process. Sigh...
It could be that if you disable the "Glasswire Control Service" that the search for updates will stop. But it is possible that I remember (what I think I read years ago) totally wrong so better proceed with caution.

Hello, does anyone know why the Glasswire homepage has been displaying the message "The page you're looking for can't be found" for days? I can't download the latest version because I also get this message. https://www.glasswire.com/de/
Ok, but nothing changed. I get the same picture. Could be the problem that it wants open always the "de" page?
Ok, I open www.glasswire.com with TOR-Browser, so the homepage is without /de, then homepage works. With the "normal" browser the homepage recognizes the language and add /de to www.glasswire.com. When it is with /de I get the message "The page you're looking for can't be found".
It doesn't work for me either. I suspect the German customers got on the nerves of the maker of GlassWire so much with their data protection concerns that they blocked the German pages.
Version 3.3.525 - (November 8, 2023) • It is now possible to filter the traffic on the Traffic Monitor by Country. • Bug fixes. • UI Improvements.
