I think more info is going to be needed to get many responses. I assume you are imaging your c: drive to your backup drive? What are you using to do so? Is this a full image? Are you adding incremental or differential backups to it? Any additional details may be helpful.

    Frank,

You have two SSDs. SSD1 and SSD2. The C: drive is a partition on SSD1 and there will be other partitions on SSD1 as well. The booted OS assigns the C: drive letter to that partition. If you put SSD1 in another computer that has a Windows OS, the partition on SSD1 will not have the C: drive letter assigned as the booted OS has already assigned the letter C: to another partition on another SSD or HD. The C: drive letter exists in the mind of the booted OS. It's not a fixed part of a partition. And an SSD is not a C: drive.

Enough terminology. Your C: partition obviously contains the Windows OS. Does it have 789 GB of Free Space or 789 GB of used space?

How do you do your backups to the E: partition?

From reading your original post, I don't think you are doing anything wrong. All my computers are similar to your situation.
