Is there a little arrow at the end which lets you select restore all? It should restore them in a new window. It does mine but I usually only have a couple and I don't know what will happen to the 79 when you close your browser window.
Holy crap Stapp, you're a genius! This indeed did the trick! I honestly don't know what on earth happened, it's like I clicked on some type of command (I only use my mouse, not the keyboard) which somehow closed all tabs, but did somehow put them in the recycle bin, perhaps because I always save my history for a couple of months, who knows? And luckily Vivaldi doesn't actually tries to load all of those tabs at the same time, I believe this is called lazy loading.
Just wondering if @JaneN has any idea why this happens on Vivaldi to some users and not others. Read from here Jane https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/ublock-a-lean-and-fast-blocker.365273/page-278#post-3129212
@stapp, unfortunately I do not know for sure why embedded content opens in a new tab instead of playing on the same page on FC Update's website, but I have a couple of guesses. Whoever made the page with the Twitter video, could've embedded the video link with a setting to open it in a new tab. On the site's other pages, different embedding methods might have been used if the video starts playing on that page. Also, whether you block third-party cookies or not can affect whether you're directed to the third-party site or the content is displayed on the same site.
Yes, but with a heavy heart not sheepishly. My colleague wrote a good article about this topic on https://vivaldi.com/blog/pulling-the-plug-on-expired-operating-systems/. If you haven't already, give it a read.
Vivaldi 5.7 Stable Released Full info and bug fixes listed here https://vivaldi.com/blog/vivaldi-5-7-on-desktop/
Too bad, I don't see any interesting for me. But I do want to tell how awesome Vivaldi is when it comes to customization options. For example, I absolutely hate the sidebar, but turns out that you can make buttons in the addressbar for Downloads and the Reading List, without ever having to use the sidebar again, very awesome. Thanks to JaneN for the tip! So if I understood correctly, Vivaldi 5.6 will be the last version on Win 7 and 8? So as long as it works correctly, it's not a big deal, but once stuff breaks, then you're out of luck? I do think this sucks for people on older machines. That's why too many browsers using the same framework or engine isn't a good thing. Perhaps I will switch to the upcoming DuckDuckGo desktop browser on Win 8.1, who knows.
That's right, it's not possible to update to 5.7 on Windows 7 and 8, but you can install a fresh 5.6 from our Archive. AFAIK, DDG is planning to use Chromium as a base as well, so I doubt that they'll support older operating systems.
Thanks for sharing our release news. I think this release has some pretty cool features. I already enjoy using the background audio option a lot and blocking autoplay can be pretty useful as well. Question for all, do you use Vivaldi on your Android phones and tablets or are you among the many, who are waiting for Vivaldi on iOS?
Vivaldi 5.7.2921.60 Minor update for Vivaldi Desktop Browser 5.7 This update includes security fixes from the Chromium project. February 23, 2023 https://vivaldi.com/blog/desktop/minor-update-5-7/
I've been using Vivaldi on Android for quite some time, my only complaint would be Vivaldi freezing up when run too long. Maybe this update fixed that issue for me. I'll find out soon enough.

As soon as possible, but there are so many moving variables that it's really hard to predict. We have a list of things we want to have in the first version and we'll release it when it's ready.
Let's hope that Vivaldi 5.6 will keep working correctly, because I personally haven't got any problems with using older versions. I'm not that worried about security issues since I got that covered. I do know that one time I had to upgrade to a newer version because I believe that the HBO Max site didn't work correctly with older Chromium versions, it's so annoying. I think you may be right about DDG, although it's a bit confusing. Because from what I understood they will be using a different browser engine on Windows named WebView2, but it's still based on Chromium, or something like that. But both aren't supported anymore on Win 7 and Win 8.1, so in the end it won't matter anyway. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-edge/webview2/ https://www.theverge.com/2021/12/21/22848133/duckduckgo-browser-pc-mac-beta-privacy-default-settings
Minor update (2) for Vivaldi Desktop Browser 5.7 https://vivaldi.com/blog/desktop/minor-update-two-5-7/ List of changes etc., in link above.
BTW, I guess I was lucky because an older version of Vivaldi 5.7 which fixed an annoying bug, was still able to work on Win 8.1, but of course the newest Vivaldi 5.7 doesn't work anymore because Chromium isn't supported. I have also checked out the new Workspaces feature, and it's still too tricky to work with. It would make more sense if you could simply assign certain websites to certain Workspaces, and if you close those websites, they will reload once you open the Workspace. And separate buttons for Workspaces would also be nice to save on clicks. But anyway, can you perhaps bring a certain request to the attention to Vivaldi developers? I would like a mouse gesture for the ''Stack Tabs By Host'' command, I use it quite a lot.

Great interview and I totally agree with him, I have nothing against non intrusive ads that don't track you. But the online advertising industry seems to be run by complete idiots. However, if Vivaldi is truly serious about privacy they should implement more anti-tracking features like Firefox and Brave have already done.
