I'll bet yes! I got a call claiming to be from M$ security, "saying they have a new windows key."
I asked how I knew you from M$, as M$ does not make calls uninitiated by user.
She gave an 11-digit 'key,' though the key was 25 alphanumeric digits. Perhaps her guidance, if followed, would take remote control? Or?

Yeah, that "key" sounds like a connect code for remote control software.

USA still the best. But barely.
Did she want you to open a Command Prompt window?

To be entered on the telephone keypad or on your pc somewhere? Agree with others, looks like a scam.

@wat0114 I suspected a 'scam' by contrasting known behavior, legit support vs behavior of the scammer. Like!

M$ does not make non- initiated 'calls' to customers. We call them!
I've never had a tech. "ask for my skill" red flag.
11 digits for a key, M$ does not use that format

I shared here & was curious how that 11-digit so-called KEY would work to rip me off. Get it up on the board, add this scam to the list.
11 all digit KEY, zoom right past me, associating that to a telephone number.

How would the scam work using the phone number? Curious. Confirmed suspicion in all 6 posts

My guess is they were hoping you had no skill and would offer to help you out, either through remote admin or downloading a tool, once the "new key" didn't work. Otherwise, I can't see where the scam would be...
