@XIII - you should be able to use the CommandLine mode of ShutdownBlocker as a pre and post command to the Macrium REFLECT process...
So are you saying that you are already using this option described on the following link and you are still having issues? https://knowledgebase.macrium.com/display/KNOW80/Schedule Settings I have never used it myself, but this option is supposed to prevent your system from going to sleep or shutting off until the entire Macrium process, including the scripts etc are finished.
No, I was not even aware of this option… Thanks! However, I run my backups manually and this seems to be for scheduled backups? This looks like what I need; will try this next time. Thanks!
Was hoping someone else would report but I guess it will be me. Installed, rebooted, rebuilt rescue media. So far no issues.
How is everyone going with Reflect v8.1.7336? Any problems? My backups seem to be very large now. Much bigger than I've seen before.
Same here, size is exactly the same as previous version. The only difference is that is much much faster.
Ran my usual incremental today. Still no issues to report. Seems to be working fine after the update.
My differential backups are more than twice the size of my previous ones since upgrading to Reflect v8.1.7336. They're almost the size of the previous full backups. I'm guessing that once I make a new full backup with Reflect v8.1.7336, the differentials will fix themselves. Reflect is scheduled to do a full backup in a few hours, so I'll see if my theory is right. By the way... A short video below. Thanks @Hadron for the shared video. I don't want to say that i've moved beyond Macrium just yet. But they now have some serious competition. That said i have yet to have any failed backup or restore using their product.
I've just restored an image (hot restore) with the updated version with no issues including time being as expected...
Secondary Only right now. Aomei Backupper is proving worth every penny. Well Macrium does as well, and perhaps has far longer.
A couple people have reported poor performance to NAS targets now, which goes away by reverting to 8.0. Macrium is investigating. Maybe a side effect of the new parallelized/pipelined engine. It seems like every time there’s a significant Reflect update (and sometimes even a minor update), somebody reports unexpectedly large backups, and yet to date nobody has been willing to mount that backup and an older backup side by side to run comparison tools against them.
I had 1 fail in the early days of version 7. No more issues since. I still trust it more than most products. @Hadron Yes, do a new full backup. That should get things running as expected again.
What I don't understand is why is everyone running to find an alternative to the most popular and reliable backup program. Even if they stop updating the free version so what? It still works and will continue to work for years to come. It just creates a clone of the HDD/SSD then restores it when needed.
Maybe those folks are using the free version and aren't wiling to pay? I will likely stick with it unless something drastically changes with their purchasing model.
I am talking about the free version users. What's the need to update if it works fine? It's not like the Windows partition scheme will change that may prevent them from making and restoring backup images in the future.
Microsoft will eventually find a way to break it. Some 2xHx (23H2 or similar) update will eventually make something non-functional. I've had such updates break backup software before. Though it is more likely with something like Acronis than Macrium.
