I found out it is AppGuard somehow interfering with Sandboxie. Apologies for not testing thoroughly before creating this thread.

 

The following registry exception in AG may fix issues with MS Office and perhaps other apps like Firefox ESR portable which when running on top of Sanboxie threw some error messages. Now they are fixed.

This could be helpful for those using AppGuard + Sandboxie
