I don't think Firefox new Extension button is that awful, either. I leave it as it is, for now, in case the new mechanism is essential in some way when installing new add-ons. Although there is the 'Add-ons and themes' option in the menu, already, so I doubt the new button and new menu are essential.

Furthermore, most Firefox buttons can be unpinned and moved away, so I can imagine users are annoyed if a new button cannot simply be moved away. There were some before, like the 'List all tabs' (or 'Tab Manager') button, I disabled that in about:config, and the Bookmark star button, that I hid using userChrome.css code. I can imagine disabling the new Extension button, if it's of no use to me.

Yeah, I'm getting that too with Firefox on some websites on the Mac. Back to Safari.

Sure, from left to right the first one is Ublock Origin.

The next one with the green check mark is Bitdefender Trafficlight, I use it with Bitdefender Free AV. I think BD may have finally fixed Trafficlight, because it used to either not work at all or only work sporadically in Bing and Google search results. It has been working ok so far in Google and Bing since I started using it again not long ago. It blocks phishing sites and gives a green check for good search links and a red check for dangerous links.

The green, red and yellow one is Audio Equalizer, it's a ten band eq that I use to improve the sound of music in YouTube and Pandora in the browser. It does not work with Spotify though.

The next one is Dark Reader, it's the best dark mode extension I have found.

The red shield one is Web Mail Ad Blocker. It strips ads and junk email out of my Yahoo and Gmail inboxes. It also closes the blank pane on the right side of my Yahoo email so I have more room to read the mail or write email.

If I remember it right all of my extensions are approved and recommended by Firefox. I try my best to not use extensions that are not approved. Same with Edge, I try to only use Edge extensions from the Microsoft Store, but have run across a few there that were broken. I also think it is best to keep security-related extensions to a minimum.

    Fingers crossed.

Windows 11, uBlock Origin. Freezing seems a bit random, usually after entering something into a site and trying to proceed. The last freeze was attempting to track something on the UPS site. Not every time, but it is usually something similar. Enter info, click button, browser stops responding. Have to kill it with Task Manager. This has been an on again, off again issue since version 100.

no freeze either on two systems.
about the extension button - it can also handle MV3, the overhang menu seems not.
further - the extension button will become mandatory since v111 and you will be able to sort extensions.

with userChrome.css you can minimize the height of each entry.

its neither nor similar to the awful extension button in chrome or edge.

Edit: I also use Flagfox, it is a FF extension that puts a small icon of the flag of the country where the server for the website I am on is located. The flag is in the right corner of the address bar next to the bookmark star, so it does not really seem to be affected or governed by the new extension button. Flagfox is one of the very first extensions I ever used. It is a great little tool, if I go on my bank or credit card website and it shows me a flag in some other country than the USA, I know I am in trouble. I use the same kind of extension in Edge, but there and in the Google Extension store it is called "Country Flags & IP Whois", and has the same function with the flag icon of the server's country.

With nothing to lose I installed 110 beta 2. It seems to be working. I don't know if it is worth trying to get a beta on a Mac but I haven't had a freeze since installing it.

I think you are right, Kaspersky will not allow other security apps to run at the same time. As far as I know Kaspersky does have its own extension that is very similar to BD Trafficlight, I used Kaspersky a couple of years ago and I remember there was an extension called Kaspersky Security or something like that, it was in the serttings somewhere. It also offered to add it to my browsers when I first installed Kaspersky. The Kaspersky extension is not listed in the Firefox extensions or the Chrome/Edge store.

Dark Reader works great, it has never slowed my browser or caused any problem at all. I like that one because it has a lot of adjustments to the color but even on default it works fine.

    really?
    https://addons.mozilla.org/de/firefox/search/?q=kaspersky&type=extension

most of those bugged extensions sadly need the whole suite to work.
and kaspersky is one of those which was bugged a lot after each Firefox update. a paid software is not able to handle updates in time, those [...] at kaspersky only grab your money and do not check on beta or nightly builds. thats really poor. to mention avast, avira, norton (all same company) too, same issues for a paid software. avast and avira made firefox crash. hmm.

In fact any extension of some antivirus is not that good as a medium adblocker which is specialised on ads, malicious pages and more. uBlock is the superior or all, then adguard, and then the rest.

Well I searched the FF and Edge Chrome extensions before I wrote that, and I did not see it anywhere. I will admit I did not spend any great length of time looking for it though. When I tried Kaspersky Free back in 2021 I did use their extension. The only thing I saw it do was mark up the results of google searches, it did not seem to me to function as an ad blocker.
