Are you folks familiar with "NTFS file system (Windows) with cluster size ≥ 64K"? Since when is that happening? Are there MS sites telling about it with details? Lots of questions. Like: which kind of programs might be effected by this? I know that Advanced Diskinfoscope (ADinf32) released fixes for this last month. See the ADinf32 Changelog https://www.adinf.com/en/faq/changelog.php v2.04.0000/Gen2 12/17/2022 v2.03.0000/Gen2 12/11/2022 I happen to know that more program(s) need to be upgraded for this. No, I cannot give more info. That is up to the companie(s). As I said: lots of questions. Which kind of programs might be effected by this? Only the low-level programs? Maybe the system backup/restores programs?
For those wondering about cluster sizes this page give a brief info on the subject https://www.partitionwizard.com/partitionmagic/ntfs-cluster-size.html
Thank you @stapp for that link I have to admit that the recent patches for ADinf32 raised a lot of questions for me and that I never had to bother about cluster sizes (well, I guess that is clear from my newbie post about it). The first picture in that article ( ntfs-cluster-size-1.png ) makes it clear that there are much larger cluster sizes than 64K possible. It raises the question: didn't the ADinf32 developper know that? Or maybe ADinf32 wasn't used before on systems with such larger cluster sizes? From what I understood from him, it was new for him; that can happen. I will send him the link you gave. Thanks again!
You have to stick with 4k if you want to use compression. Which I doubt too many care about these days.
