Yep. My PC is actually noticeably faster with the 3rd party product I just installed so I won't be going back. For everyone that ever said they weren't concerned with false positives.. it's time to change your mind.

mostly enterprise as they have policies deployed with ASR, and would of caused support teams absolute mayhem across hundreds of thousands of endpoints!

for the average home user there would be no impact as they wouldn't know what or how to enable ASR

it would affect home user tweakers and security conscious people (myself included) who use configure defender or defenderUI and have enabled the ASR rules (but in reality these people would also know how to perform regular backups and how to easily restore .lnk files)

so your average Joe running a stock defender would of had zero impact

Incorrect, I have 2 PCs (minimum) that have been affected.

What do people on this forum do to “clean” their PC after an update?

In the past the built-in disk clean tool offered several GB to clean, but lately it’s only a few MB.

My C: drive was around 30 GB for quite some time, but it has grown to 50 GB and my SSD is only 60 GB…

In my case non-Enterprise (Pro), only Hard Configurator installed with default settings, no tweaks.

I use Storage clean-up now. Works ok for me. I clean up manually. Settings..System..Storage. As I said, I have it turned off so wait a few seconds for the graph showing the amounts to load (no need to turn it on) Then I click on the word Temporary, wait a few seconds for it to populate and select what I want cleaned (Usually everything APART FROM DOWNLOADS, read the info next to that section ) Click on 'remove files' at top of page.

I run Disk Cleanup as Administrator. I delete the contents of the Software Distribution/ Downloads and LCU folders also (which you're not really supposed to do but anyway).

    Sorry--edited to add a word

Yes, here also, the optional update installed just fine, along with a .NET preview update.

    New winver for Windows 10--19045.2546.

Same here. I am still unclear as to whether or not they were pulling all of the downloads for 10. I'm pretty sure you can't purchase it anymore.

    Hi Jack,

I thought you could buy a Win 10 licence until the end of this month. Am I now wrong?
(in my country it is 31 January 2023 )

Today is the last day for purchase but aside from that the mystery is why the webpage of the Media creation too and iso have been offline.
I see it is back up now.

Well, that is today. They are probably updating the sites to reflect the changes. Maybe a few hours early but it would explain the situation.
