    Today=29th. Not so late updating YET, especially since WVSX relies more on AI/HIPS/etal than sigs. Also, New Years is a major major holiday in China, I think.

    Wise Vector folks may be enjoying some Tsingtao about now. Xīnnián kuàilè!!!:thumb::thumb::-*

    Silent, sleek and smooth with it, so much so that I check the system tray on occasion just to make sure it`s still there:geek:

    Hopefully they will resume WVStopX development after the holidays:thumb:

    Regards Eck:)

    A Covid epedemic is raging in China. Let's hope that it doesn't affect the Wisevector team -- not just to keep this excellent AV going strong but also because their representative on this forum is a VERY nice fellow-human-being-on-this-tiny-planet.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    I am now running WVSX together with Panda Essentials. Panda is only *pretty good* as an AntiVirus (AV). That's why I am running WVSX alongside of it.
    Why run Panda if it's only so-so as an AV? Because Panda paid versions have one of THE best firewalls I have found so far. Also, Panda is very light on system resources, as is WVSX. With the WVSX/Panda pair on duty, my aging laptop is well protected PLUS very very agile & speedy.
    While I've had WVSX installed for quite a while I haven't been running it for months. It looks like the streaming updates aren't very regular now. Is that what you guys have been talking about?
    As WVSX does not need frequent signature updates, that's fine.
    True, but last time I was running it, it was updating every few minutes.
    FYI, I just checked for and received an update so things may be getting back to normal.
    Just curious if the below excerpt from a year old thread on ESET forum is still valid.
    Btw, the Wisevector site is broken for me at the moment. Nothing unusual with Chinese sites.
    Thx @roger_m it's partly clear. What about this?
    Sorry but I don't have time to read through 112 pages on Malwaretips forums.
    It has done very well when tested by Cruelsister and others, but no, it hasn't been tested yet by any labs yet. That will happen in time I believe. I would say it be will when they've released the paid version, which is coming at some point. But there will continue to be a free version.
    OK @roger_m I just wanted to know. I don't take lab tests too seriously. I look to them, but I don't necessarily follow them. I see them as ISO quality management systems, every company needs to have any to be credible but actually they don't guarantee you anything.
    As @WiseVector posted a while back, their company has not enough funds, to pay for test labs,
    and to certify and sign there driver by Microsoft.
    Both very expensive, for a startup.
    It also wouldn't make much sense, as WVSX is a public beta, or release candidate til now.
    BTW:
    Their site isn't down, but takes very long to load. No reason to worry, see funds.
    Too bad their website does not enable users to Donate. I always like to chip in to help new AVs get started.
    Perhaps @WiseVector could get a Donate click spot added to their website. If so, I hope the Donate methods will include PayPal.
    It identified two of my apps as malware. I excluded them but its annoying when security software wakes up and decides something is rogue on the system.
    I want to be the one to make that call, not the software and I know what's safe and it what isn't.
    No, it looks like it loads but it never loads completely. In other words, the site is down. At least on my end. How one can trust the app when the webpage even doesn't work.
    Does anyone have experience running WV along with ESET? I see several overlaps, e.g. HIPS, memory protection, ransomware protection, exploit blocker, firewall, antiphishing and web protection etc. Aren't they conflict?
    A lot of that's now done through Windows on the hardware level through virtualisation enforcement. That's now the first layer of defence and anything that still gets through can be removed by your AV/antimalware.
