It uses Kaspersky, so that is a bonus. It takes about 200MB RAM and it is light on CPU/Disk. I do not recall any ads, but it's options are limited. The firewall uses HIPS to block hijacked processes, I really do not like the lack of settings.

I didn't know they used Kaspersky. But oddly they don't allow to install on Windows 8.1 but they allow Windows 7. Weird.

I don't know what all the fuss is about.
Isn't ZoneAlarm an outdated, bottom of the barrel AV?

I haven't seen any evidence to the contrary.

I already downloaded the latest version but what they give you is a web setup and once the setup finishes downloading it says that the OS is not supported. I just found weird that it supports Windows 7 but not 8. But anyways I was just searching AV's that don't nag you with ads or pro versions and lite on the system. Even the 2018 wants to offer me other products like roboform.

Well if they removed the ads and popups that were in the 2018 version that's great. It doesn;t work on Windows 8 though and I don't want 10 or 11

I think most AV still support it. But I'll keep using it until the computer breaks. Then I'll see just use linux

Windows 8 has EOL Jan 2023, means: feb'23 NO updates.
it is not wise to use (illegally) older than windows 10. thats why i wrote "preliminary".
Defender on win8 is NOT same as on win1 nor Win11 (win11 defender is strongest).

and ZA is -give it a name : ********!

After installation f-secure v19.0 didn't want the program and asked me to delete it. Has anyone had problems with this before? I have installed ZoneAlarm Firewall Free before and never had this problem, but then I installed an older version:thumbd:

Did you try to install the Zonealarm firewall or AV? If it was the AV then of course FSecure won't be happy, 2 AV's is a no-no, if it was just the firewall then there must be some aspects of it that makes FSecure think its an AV.

Many install one stand-alone firewall with the antivirus program they use, and I have done so many times over the years without any problems.;):)

Why don't you just exclude all Zonealarm folders ? Or contact support.

My bad, I thought you were trying to install the Zone Alarm Antivirus alongside F-Secure.

I use F-Secure AntiVirus only (not the SAFE with its firewall), that's all the protection I need along with an AdGuard but to each his own.
