Microsoft releases Windows Defender Application Guard extensions for Chrome and Firefox

I'm not disputing that. I agree. But for me the point is that it is marketed as an improvement for Firefox or Chrome when it does nothing for either except discard them. If someone wants to use Edge they should be doing so in the first place. It's like putting a button on the dash of a Honda Accord that says "Press here to go faster" and when you press it the roof retracts, an ejector seat shoots you out of the car and into the driver's seat of a Mustang GT. It works but it doesn't actually do anything for the thing you were using. While created a jarring transition in the process.

 

Some work places use certain websites specifically made for a specific web browser though. Chrome might be the only one that 100% works, yet the corp still wants to use MDAG.

 

Whatever browser you run will open a virtual window in Microsoft Edge if you have a Microsoft Defender Application Guard extension installed on it.

Your browser runs in a hardware-enabled sandbox. Its has a low impact on resources and malware can't infect your PC because its running in a sandbox.

It will be killed when you close your browser.
