    Hi busy!

    1. I have only the "built-in" Windows Security (MS Defender) that comes with Windows 10. I don't know why Edge doesn't work. It's not a big problem for me, but if it's possible to make it work, I'd like to.

    2. Clear. :)

    3. So SkipHook makes Sandboxie ignore the old sandbox customizations in favour of new template configs, do I understand that right?

    4. What does FileCopy do, excludes files from migration? What does that mean? I can see, for example, all kinds of media file extensions listed in the code you pasted. So those files don't get copied into the sandbox, or I don't understand it right?

    5. Should I close back WindowsFontCache, what is gained by it being open (or closed)?

    6. Does anyone else know this? "Allow direct access to Mozilla Firefox phishing database" - Is it better/safer to have this enabled or disabled (and why)?

    7. It's just a cosmetic "issue" but since Sandboxie is my favourite program I had to mention it. :p

    8. MSI: I tried installing the MSI package with Drop Rights disabled - so with admin priveleges, when I got the error displayed in my previous post. I tried 2 MSI packages, both failed near the end of the installattion.

And thank you very much for your extensive reply! :)

    3. Yes, something like that. Templates are easier to maintain.

    4. Yes. Media file extensions are added so that they are not unnecessarily copied to the sandbox, especially when there is no file migration limit is set.
    5. "what is gained by it being open" Compatibility. Otherwise, some programs may not work properly.

    ...

    8. SumatraPDF worked for me even though it gave an error at the end.

Hi! I have noticed one more thing when migrating from v5.33.6 to v5.60.3 - the menu style in Firefox (same version of Firefox) changed after I updated Sandboxie. How come?

The left menu on the pic is how it looks after the update to Sandboxie v5.60.3 and the right menu on the pic is how it looked (in the same Firefox version) under Sandboxie v5.33.6.

The old Sandboxie is not compatible with a bunch of modern windows UI components, apparently FF when those fail falls back to old windows ui elements. With Up to date sandboxie those modern UI components work and FF uses them

    Hello David!

That's cool! And I must say that the latest version 5.60.3 (upgraded from the old 5.33.6) works great!

Could you please help me with these two:

    - "Allow direct access to Mozilla Firefox phishing database" - Is it better/safer to have this enabled or disabled (and why)?

    - MSI: I tried installing a MSI package with Drop Rights disabled (with admin priveleges enabled), but I got an error (it fails near the end of the installattion) - is there a way to install MSI packages inside a sandbox without compromising security (I know this is a vague question, sorry)?

Thank you for your great work! :)

"Allow direct access to Mozilla Firefox phishing database" should be safe enough

MSI should work you can try other options allowing MSIServer to run with a system token often helps, although its less secure.
What application are you having issues with?

I remember seeing you asking this same question a few days ago, I was going to answer but forgot.

Is it better and or safer to allow access to Firefox phishing database?. It can be said that is both. That is because if you allow access to the phishing database, every time the database updates while running sandboxed (this happens every day, Firefox checks for database updates as we open the browser), the DB files outside the sandbox keep the update for good when we close the browser and delete contents. If we don't allow access to the DB, every time Firefox checks for DB updates, downloaded files have to be downloaded again and again. Allowing access to the DB, makes individual DB updates smaller and supposedly faster to perform.

But regardless. In my opinion, the difference is so little that I who prefer not to allow access to phishing, can't tell any performance difference in time or whatever because I handle phishing DB updates this way.

I tried to install Camtasia MSI pacakge:
    https://www.techsmith.com/download-camtasia-win-thankyou.html
I run it with pretty much default sandbox settings, but I disabled the drop rights feature, otherwise the installation wouldn't even begin. Are you able to install it?

I have always had the "Allow direct access to Mozilla Firefox phishing database" enabled, that was the default setting in the old Sandboxie. Then I saw that in the new Sandboxie the default is disabled, so I asked. I'll leave it enabled then I guess.
Also, the "Template=WindowsFontCache" that was by default in the sandboxie.ini is now gone in the new Sandboxie - and I'll leave it like that.

    Thank you, both!
