You are mistaken. The link leads to download v2.5.57.2. There is no link to a free v3 download on the homepage.

In this rare instance I'm working on all my systems at about the same time because of the knotty GlassWire v2 - v3 Elite-Legacy update, something about AppCheck escaped my attention.

My Win7 Home Premium i7-3770K is running Pro 2.5.57.2 and checking for an update reports as the current version.

My Win7 Home Premium i5-2430 is running Free 3.1.25.1 after just updating today from 3.1.24.3.

One could wonder why would that one's locked in its previous v2.5? But not for too long. OK. I'm done wondering.

Has development of v2 been discontinued or is it continuing in parallel with v3? From the home page the "Free Download" button downloads v2.

Cool, will check out the newest AppCheck version. From what I see on their YouTube channel, it's pretty good at blocking malware. Of course there are also tests on YouTube where hundreds of ransomware samples are run at the same time, and AppCheck might then fail against some, but that's not based on real life.

Although ransomware is a mute subject for most home user's (unless they surf dodgy) it's interesting for me to see how well improvements have progressed on the ROLLBACK feature after which some files were tainted with those weird/odd extensions and encrypted yet with AppCheck can be reversed!

OK, good to know that AppCheck is good in reversing files. I honestly still don't know how this feature works in tools like HMPA and AppCheck. But I have to say I'm quite disappointed with AppCheck's new GUI! It doesn't look good and loads with a small delay. I believe they have switched to the AppCheck Pro GUI.

Yes. Even the free version benefits from that.

One of the primary reasons why I went with Pro years ago (hey, that rhymes) was to add file extensions to Ransom Guard like hc, pwkdat among several others. The File Extension Customization feature.

The other Pro features are icing on the cake.

Windows 11 is not listed on their site as supported OS:
    https://www.checkmal.com/product/appcheck/

But it should work fine. The developers test it on Win 11 on their YouTube channel.
