Glad to see ESET is on top. ESET rocks! However Bitdefender ends on top in almost all tests. Being tempted to give it a try for some time now. Does anyone have experience with both and can compare them?
One major show stopper for me about BitDefender is that I only want an Antivirus. Even their lowest tier product, the AntiVirus includes a registry cleaner, software updated, system booser, all snake oil that can actually destroy a healthy system. that's why I'll never come near their products regardless of how well they may score in any test.

With so many top tier antivirus available such as Kaspersky, Bitdefender, etc I'm not sure why anyone would use a second tier program such as eScan.
OK but it would not be a stopper for me if I had full control over these performance options. As concerns AV solutions top results in performance and efficiency tests are most important to me. My question was directed to the comparison of these aspects of both products.
A lot of snake oil in many of them. They troll-in the unsuspecting thinking all the "extras" are a value.
OK, so I guess this test was about more ''tricky'' malware that will normally not be used against consumer PC's, but might be used to get a foothold on some companies network for example. Win Defender didn't perform too bad either.
ESET is lighter with more accurate signatures (if you care about that), and has a ton of configuration option. Bitdefender is slightly heavier (not slow) and have a better behavior blocker with not many options to customize. There is Bitdefender Free/Bitdefender Antivirus Plus without the snake oil. I'm not a fan of the oils either. BTW, Bitdefender and Bitdefender based product are not the exact same thing. Only the local malware signature is the same, the rest are very different. Bitdefender has many patents, for example many in behavior based machine learning, networking which are part of Bitdefender product only.
OK, thanks for your feedback. I know ESET pretty well, having it for many years. Actually you confirmed what I already heard that Bitdefender is heavier but on par with ESET as regards security efficiency.
True- but they are snake oil to me and that was my point.. The only AV I have tested that has none is Defender.

That's absolutely incorrect. The only product they have with those features is their "Total Security" or their "all-in-one" packs. Internet Security and their Antivirus doesn't come with any of that stuff. You are correct about the four you list. I meant to say that some of them have annoying pop-ups when I tested them. That is not snake-oil- no question.
I just tested it again, I think the issue I faced was, even if you download the Antivirus Plus Trial, it installed Bitdefender Total Security which is why I thought the AV only also included the bloatware.
