I have an AOMEI license, as well as Macrium and Terabyte, and Acronis before that, also used EaseUs Free before ... but over the years the reliability and overall usability (for my use case) of Macrium have made it my first choice. I had BSOD issues with AOMEI before, and along with Peter2150, confused by its system vs disk imaging.
Terabyte my second choice, but I think assumes a higher skill set.

I forgot to write that I have a license for EaseUs and a license for AOMEI, but still Macrium Free is my best choice.

I was fumbling thru my Windows PE ISO's/UFD's and came across a still adequate PE courtesy @Peter2150 he shared with me. At the time i was looking for a decent Windows 8.1 PE to seat DriveSnapshot in and it worked like a charm and still does. He is sorely missed-such ambition and candor.

The newest Aomei Backupper seems is vastly improved (zero experience with this one) but it's still too early for me to really draw any reasonable conclusion with it. It is peppy though and was impressively easy to mount the image and browse. That's nothing new but it was cut n dried simple in a few clicks and in there.

So now my choices are the (2) long time tested and true for me DS + Macrium with this new Aomei Backupper addition added to the mix.
I long detested Acronis and only always had issue after frustrating issue with it. TeraByte i tried within this past year and i have no negatives with it either but i only want to rely on a trifecta of imagers not a pile of them to confuse which is which and so forth.

Ambitious and more experienced nature of that like is better suited to our forum Image Specialists like @TheRollbackFrog.

The reply from our famed intelligent Mod @Peter2150 still rings true for me in 2022.

Thank You -Interesting and very good timing.

I am kind of new to Backupper and within the hour just finished a restore 'beautifully' to a blank disc.

What really impresses me most (this my very first Aomei restore) is that the percentage circle graph (Progress Indicator) seemed it would take a long while for a 500Gb Disk Image with roughly 1/2 useage 1/2 remaining total backup file 236Gb (Disk Backup.adi) to complete. It was around 65% as i walked away a bit maybe 10 minues and suddenly it showed FINISHED. Used the UFD PE for the restore. Pulled out both the External & UFD and on reboot system ON. In fact am using it now.

It no doubt will really run quicker on a SSD image/restore. This test is on a Sata Seagate 500Gb Spindle HDD.

I swear i have avoided Aomei Backupper longer than necessary i think. I didn't realize how formidable it really is.
Also i never doubted that the imager product Backupper would one day be ideal alternative choice if not a main one for some.
If it can picture perfect creating backups as it is showing me since i began delving into it only recently. I always knew their Partition Assistant was one the very best and it proved that for my 8.1's multiple times- converting MBR to UEFI is a snap. Extending partitions and other adjustments go off without a hitch leaving me in pleasant satisfied shock to it's accuracy.

Backupper is earned my satisfaction in how fast it restored my old slow metal HDD's, and those are from 500GB to a full 1 Tb capacity.
They really have upped their game and i can't find a single issue after a restore- It just does as intended and in record time for a Metal Sata HDD.

With these ground successes lately it IS NOT Microsoft who will be the encouragement to invest up the chain for new machines but imagers like Aomei and DS and Macrium that will earned the satisfaction i can prove perfect results.

At the moment there are two offers at BitsDuJour for the latest Professional Edition of the Backupper (7.0.0):

    - One can get it for free (restriction: you have to pay for upgrades; and you must install during the promotion day)
    or
    - 21,98 $ for the program with lifetime upgrades for 2 PCs

The registration procedure is a little bit complicated: You have to make an offline registration as described here: https://www.aomeitech.com/kb/backupper/offline-register.html (with the "License Code" as the one you received per e-mail from BitsDuJour). But it works. ;)

    PS:
Oh, I forgot the link to the offers:

In my wildest imagination i would never have thought Aomei as a backup imager would become as it's proven out to be so far here.

I would highly recommend Backupper to anyone looking for either a first time backup/restore solution OR secondary program that just plain works, is reliable (at least from my standpoint), and is not dogged with issues or stuffed with cleaners, this & that junk no imager needs.

Heck those commercial backup programs that do happen to be heavy with all that mess would be better suited to just include a dependable Partition Manager instead of all the other junk they thrown in just to make a selling point of ALL the fantastic EXTRA features they offer.

Yeah, the late Peter2150, one of the backup experts at Wilders, liked Aomei. Of course his favorite was Macrium, but he also recommended Aomei to me.

I have to add respectively to clarify a detail (?) concerning these deals. ;)

AOEMI forgot to inform BitsDuJour that the offered license is time-restricted. That means it is valid only for 12 months.

--> BitsDuJour added later in its offer the following note:

Yeah @Acadia, i had nearly forgotten. With, at the time on my end had been quite content and satisfied with both Macrium + Drive Snapshot, (as primary backup restore programs), the only Aomei Product i leaned toward was their Partition Assistant. It was and still is effective when needed which isn't often. But it's proven for me to be reliable in working the sensitive management of disk partitions.

As recently as maybe just a year ago i still had zero interest in Aomei as a backup agent, (secondary or otherwise) but since have discovered why @Peter2150 was pretty sold on it at the time.

I have a sour taste in my mouth from their partition assistant. The first and last time I tried it was like 2 years ago, I changed the C: partition size, it rebooted my machine, changed the size, then rebooted again, but the OS boot sector got messed up I had to format. I now only use MiniTool Partition Wizard and it has never failed me.

Yes i know. I also been around that same block too many times to count. When one partition manager would mess up i kept at it with another.
MiniTool Wizard was one of those that brought my issue full circle and saved me from having to reformat. There's a couple more i tried and they just couldn't handle matters. Aomei Partition Manager has come through for me but there was once a time i shy'd away from them. That's all behind me now thank goodness

Never had a problem with Aomei. It's equal to Macrium in speed on this old laptop (2014 vintage). I use Macrium paid and EaseUS todo backup. EaseUS will do 46 Gigs in a little over 12 minutes on this thing. Way faster than either Macrium or Aomei. And EaseUS has always been just as reliable as Macrium.

Don't push me into it @Chuck57 - Now i have a firm handle on the excellence Aomei is proving on this end, the next logical step might be the speed feature. Never tried EaseUS so that would be brand new territory here. I must agree wholeheartedly however that Aomei is right on par with Macrium from the results i witnessed and every other aspect.

For my money, nothing beats Terabyte's IFW. And it's not even close.

Image for Windows (just like Drive Snapshot and Symantec Ghost) are great for people who want powerful disk imaging software that can be fully controlled / automated via batch files, executable files etc and all three pieces of the mentioned software can also be copied to a usb stick and the software will run fully registered on other computers as standard without installing anything, registering them or having to make boot media.

I wish more companies would make disk imaging software for power users like others on here and myself but it wont happen as they need to keep them basic and ridiculously easy "one click" and those interfaces to make them money.

Oh I agree. There are too many Acronises (Acronii?) in this space now, and not enough IFWs or DSs.

Yes, they make money out of this. But on the other hand for those users who are not experts and only want to create backups in an as simple, quick and of course reliable way as possible, such "one click solutions" are of great help and benefit.
