Good afternoon, i want to mount a Linux machine using Virtualbox and do it in the safest and most isolated way possible to minimize possible malware risks. What would be the most efficient and safest way to do it? That machine would only need internet access. Thanks.

I would assume you would want to disable any folder and clipboard sharing and use the bridged network so that is it separate from the host. If that is what you are looking to do. Short of an exploit from guest to host (they have happened) that should stop it from communicating with the host at all.

Yes, exactly. I want the virtualbox machine to have as little as possible. How exactly would the network configuration be?

If you bridge it then it uses it own IP address to connect to your network and appears as a separate device. NAT would share the IP address with the host, so I would assume that traffic would pass through the host first. Though I could be mistaken, I always bridge it. If I'm wrong someone will let us know.

It's unlikely that a Linux guest will get malware that can infect a Windows guest. You didn't mention what OS you are using as a host, but assuming it is Windows, you are inherently protected.
