Indeed. Of all the programs that I have used through the many years, Aomei Backupper, EaseUs ToDo, and the built-in Win 7 left-over are the three simplest and easiest. If a person can't figure out how to use any of them, they're too dangerous to be using a pc.

I had to chuckle @Acadia on reading your conclusion. Good one and true.

I dunno, call me the ultimate skeptic where concerns Windows and Softwares which we attach to it for various purposes. Roughly a year or so ago i encountered partition issues and there was on the available list the usual cast of characters. Of the others that i tried, Aomei Partition literally blew my socks off. You sometimes get that cautious anticipation on pins and needles, especially when waiting with baited breath to see if a software that advertises claims of their capabilities actually meets expectations. Aomei Partition did a switch over from MBR to GPT then safely expanded the unallocated space like setting a wristwatch. I was SOLD at that very instant!

Wasn't really looking for another Image Backup/Restore Program (Had macrium and DS) and even IFW. But something grabbed me about Backupper as it kept coming up in this forum and it was then i decided why not give it a spin. I had zero intention of actually bothering with another Imager. But it too has literally blown my socks off!!

I have so much enjoyed reading all of the replies and have in turn learned from them. My primary backup is Macrium Reflect 7 paid version, secondary is EaseUS ToDo Free. I have decided to purchase EaseUS ToDo Home Perpetual. All backups are saved on an external drive so I believe I should be good to go. Take Care...

@jpcummins - As much as my chops water to try EaseUS ToDo the backup program commodity shelf is quite enough for me at this point i think. But can you share what you find to your liking with EaseUS. You already expressed how you intend to make use of it, and i'm sure you've done your homework with that industry product for a home PC backup & restore product. Thank You

One thing that this Acronis topic has done in the affirmative is brought to the surface it's competitors. Maybe they can learn something better for their image product and turn course to a more stable and from an innovative development research standpoint, eventually ditch their status quo and offer a more attractive & innovative less cheesy program going forward.

I wouldn't trust my own family members with disk imaging software, which is why I automate their image creating / restoring using Drive Snapshot as they cannot mess up (press 1 for backup, press 2 for restore).

People on here (and other forums) talk about disk imaging software like the majority of computer users actually use them (or even know of there existence). Many computer users don't even have proper backups of anything (apart from dragging and dropping a few files here and there to usb sticks, external hard drives etc).

Let a complete novice tinker with imaging software and they'd probably overwrite the wrong partition / drive, mess up the partition table, make their computer unbootable etc.........If you know them personally then expect to get "that" phone call........I've been there, done that. Never again.

That's my impression too. But I would like to add that often this is not (or not exclusively) the fault of those users themselves. Certain imaging software is completely non-user-friendly concerning its GUI and hence in the way how to use it.

But even apart from this, I share John's considerations:
I think to have a second backup (created with an alternative software) is always a good idea. Until now I do not use it by myself, but I will think now too about such a secondary software.

EASTER, the reason I have decided on EaseUS ToDo Home is that I have used the Free version for quite a few years and I feel very comfortable with it. And, while I have never done a full drive restore I have restored individual files successfully. Additionally, I have every confidence in my primary, Macrium Reflect 7. I did find Drive Snapshot interesting...

Thanks @jpcummins - You will be overjoyed with confidence should you ever need or have to do a full restore.
It's the absolute best choice any PC user can do is to backup with a quality product (maybe 2) and IMHO keep those prime backups disconnected from the machine where nothing whatsoever live internet (network) can't get to it.

In addition Drive Snapshot really is worth it. Very old school looking but guaranteed to preserve your full disk/system from a to z.

As I recall from some years ago, in addition to being totally reliable every time, Drive Snapshot was one of the fastest I ever used. I used it for a trial period but for some reason long forgotten I never bought it.
