I am interested in ESET Internet Security (EIS). I hope there are some users of EIS here at Wilders. If so, please answer a few questions for me:

Q1- Is EIS okay for use on old Windows versions -- namely, Windows 7? (If answer is "No", please ignore the following questions.)

Q2- Does EIS include a firewall?

Q3- Does EIS include the HIPS component?

Q4- Does EIS include unnecessary "baggage" besides its components related to security?

    1. It still supports Windows 7.
    2. Yes it does as you would expect from an Internet Security product.
    3. It does, but I don't know much about it. I'm sure someone else will be able to give you some insight.
    4. No.

    Hi Bill,

The questions are already answered, but here you go again

    1. Yes (I run it on Win 7 Pro 64-bit)
    2. Yes (you can leave it as it is, but you can make your own rules if that's what you really want ...)
    3. Yes (you can leave it as it is, but you can make your own rules if that's what you really want ...)
    4. No

For some more detail questions you might want to go to their forum https://forum.eset.com/ .
(ages ago that forum was here at Wilders).
    We have a thread https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/eset-windows-home-products-version-15.441370/
If and when a version 16 will be released, a new thread will be started.

Hola @Brummelchen -- I always enjoy your posts. As for Win7 -- I like using it, so I do. No worry. I image differentially, very frequently, to an external HD. PLUS --

THANKS Roger, FanJ, Stapp -- very good news indeed.

Thanks @itman -- fortunately, my Win7 meets those conditions.

I downloaded trial version of ESET Internet Security (EIS). I then caused my computer to run Shadow Defender a virtualizing app. I then tried to install while computer was running Shadow Defender -- a virtualizing app. Then I uninstalled all my security apps.

EIS installed to 35% or so then froze. I waited over 1/2 hour but it never resumed installing. I was going to abort that install & try again but the computer was frozen -- I couldn't even shut it down. I had to turn it off.

I have tried other AVs using Shadow Defender & have had no problems. I prefer to try AVs virtually because I do not want to have to REALLY uninstall the security apps that EIS objects to.

I suppose I'm stuck so I'll have to seek elsewhere. Thanks to all for the helpful comments.
