i think that users using pre/beta are aware of their places and risks. Announcing each pre/beta made threads confusing in the past, and make user questions lost in place.

BTW, I don't know if Gorhill is still active on WSF, but perhaps he can add a feature that will make uBlock's extension icon show it, when JS is disabled on the active website. I believe older versions of Ublock did this, but I might be wrong.

Here in Firefox and uBO beta, the icon count color changed.

Yes, now I remember, that's it! It should turn purple, but it has somehow stopped doing this in Vivaldi. Will also check it in Edge and Firefox and report back. BTW, just random website that you can test it with, is on Business Insider. I disabled JS on this website, but I don't get to see any indication.

Turns purple there as well on both Firefox and Chromium. :)

Tested latest LibreWolf browser on adblock-tester page

Scored 91 points out of 100

    Google AdSense
Script loading: unable to check (possibly due to service security settings)
Block visibility: ⚠️ test has most likely failed

NOTE: See tiny black square in the stripped block on left side

How do I score 100 points out of 100?

NOTE: Using latest uBlock Origin with EasyList(Optimized) and EasyPrivacy list

Thanks, then the only conclusion I can make, is that this is a bug in the newest Vivaldi when combined with Ublock. It really doesn't work anymore, while it does work with older Vivaldi versions on my Win 8.1 desktop.

I can run the latest versions of Vivaldi, stable and snapshot, with uBo just fine using Windows 11 22h2. Your conclusion is flawed.

How do you install uBO lite in Edge? I downloaded the package, unzipped it, and I do not see any way to install it from there.

I was able to install the Dev build however that @imdb linked to. Cheers for that by the way.

You mentioned 8.1 desktop- If i was you i would try as suggested above to install a couple of Vivaldi snapshots and likely one of those will return a working UBlock for you.

I'm almost exclusively on 8.1 although Windows 10 is another flip top (laptop) rig. Vivaldi use to be a favorite for me but Chrome improved so much that i transitioned all 8.1's to it. Alternatively you could hold out for a newer release that does have UBlock working as expected. Even on Chrome i encounter on occasion hiccups with uBlock but then they drop another new update that quickly enough irons things back out again.

    Thanks for the update :thumb:

    Release notes

    New

Replaced on/off toggle switch with a slider to select one of four filtering modes: no filtering, basic, optimal, complete.

The basic mode is the default mode and does not require permission to read and change data.

The optimal mode enables more advanced network filtering (support for removeparam=, and more in the future), specific cosmetic filtering, and scriptlet-based filtering.

The complete mode adds generic cosmetic filtering, which support has been added in this release.

Any of these filtering modes can be picked as the default one from the Settings pane (except for no filtering), and can also be picked on a per-website basis to override the default mode.

Recommendation: the optimal mode is the suggested one, and complete mode should be used only on websites for which it has a positive effect -- typically this mode will take care of placeholders left behind on a page, when these placeholders have not been taken care by specific cosmetic filters of optimal mode.

A new setting to enable/disable auto-reload of webpages when the filtering mode is changed through the popup panel has been added. Enabled by default.

The filter list AdGuard CNAME-Cloaked Trackers has been added. Enabled by default.

I like the addition of the filtering modes :)
