Well, I get the nag screen in both Firefox and Chrome as well now (uBO). I think you have to open Dogpile several times before the nag screen kicks in. It doesn't actually do anything. Just nags. Brave isn't as stealthy as I previously thought.

Well, that's not really surprising. Websites don't detect adblockers per se. Rather, they use some code which trigger specific filters. And so they know: Hey, an adblocker is in use!

Hence, if you got such a notification depends on the filter lists you use. Anyway, you probably can get rid of them with the element picker in uBO.

You're probably right. I might look into it, although the nag screen isn't regular and does nothing.

It seems that the only change is that they offer to enable the "Easylist - Cookie List". This list has already been available for manual enablement. So nothing really new actually. Unfortunately, there is still no logger (like in uBO) which is increasingly necessary the more filterlists are enabled as false positives become more and more likely.

On Android using Brave I still see a few cookie notifications pop up even with Cookie List manually turned on.

I also see a few "disable your ad blocker" notifications on some sites I visit.

There is still some work to be done with this browser regarding blocking and shields.

On Android when I tap on 'Bookmarks' it no longer opens bookmarks but I now see a 'Reader List' link and my bookmarks folder, which means one more tap to get to my bookmarks. How do I get rid of the 'Reader List' link so my bookmarks take less taps to open?

    brave://flags/#ReadingList > Disable.

That removes the icon but still does not directly open 'Bookmarks'.

Why must some software developers fix things until they're broken?

Took the dive to see what the fuss was about and seems it does need more energy and effort. (Back to Chrome)

PS: It also appears pretty snappy on this end though. Speedy is a nice change.

I've been using it regularly for a while now. In fact I only have Brave and Firefox on my latest Ubuntu laptop, Brave being the default. It saves passwords on Linux where Chrome and other clones won't. It's faster than Chrome in my experience. I've still not needed to add uBO to Brave so far. Which has surprised me. So I'm pretty happy with it, despite it probably needing more work. It is fairly customisable and you can get rid of most of the Brave rewards stuff if you want. I've tried a lot of browsers over the years, including SeaMonkey, KMeleon, Sleipnir, Flock, Midori and others. So far Brave's a keeper. So far ...

Fanboy, the author of the EasyLists and Annoyances filter lists, is the main contributor to Brave's in-built ad blocking strategies. :thumb:

Yes, I know. I considered using uBO on Brave but I trust Fanboy's lists. I think Brave's in-built adblocker is the best I've ever used. So far I haven't had to resort to uBO. I don't know how long this will last though.

As a matter of fact, Brave's adblocker borrows a lot from uBO. And it uses the uBO filterlists by default.

Well, I'm always surprised that only few people use Dynamic Filtering in uBO which is one of the best features in uBO, IMO. And a big drawback is the lack of a logger in Brave. The more filterlists, the bigger the risk of false positives. But how would you know which filter ist the culprit without a logger? Let alone the other powerful features of the uBO logger (like creating (exception) filters, DOM inspector etc.).

    Yes, I realised this.

Yes. But that's way too complicated for me as I've had brain damage (stroke). I believe you though. ;)

Thanks. I never really totally recovered and it's been a life changing event. I am feeling relatively well at the moment.
