The increased performance is a good reason to upgrade to Windows 11. But other than the better performance, I don't see any major benefits over Windows 10.

Just to clarify, most annoyances have been fixed in Win 11 right? I'm planning to buy a new laptop, so that's why I'm checking. I assume you can still get the old start menu with quick launch back? And you can still disable Win Update?

Depends on your view of annoyances. You will likely be annoyed. :argh::cool:
With 3rd party softs or reg tweaks.
    Same as above, I suppose.

You know me too well! :p

But the only thing that matters to me is that tools like Win Update Stop, 7+ Taskbar Tweaker and Open Shell work correctly. I'm actually kind of shocked to see how many things M$ had to ''fix'' to keep users happy.

Thanks, but no way that I'm going to pay to get rid of that crappy new start menu. I just want to the old skool start menu back, and I hate this dumb pinning stuff. Open Shell should do the trick.

I remember seeing pretty much this same statement previously on here but it's been a bit... DoH (DNS over HTTPS) is a thing some feel make it more worth the upgrade. Depending on how much you value it.

I have DoH in my Chrome browser. Would it really help me that much more if W10 was using DoH.

It depends on how much you value it at all. Windows 11 enables it system wide. I value the security aspects more than the privacy ones as it makes it harder for someone else to intercept the traffic and attempt to send you to a bogus domain.

Updated to winver 22622.598 (22H2). Very uneventful and smooth process. Had some cleanup to do. I see the new features like the Focus-related settings. Windows 11 continues to underwhielm me very nicely. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzz. :isay::ninja:
