New rumors point towards Redmond officials deciding to extend the reach of the Dark Mode feature to even more system software.

This company posted an interesting tweet yesterday, through which they said that Microsoft is actually hinting at the above-mentioned change.

Twitter has just announced a new feature for Android users.

The Twitter app for Android will now be able to automatically follow the Light or Dark theme settings of your smartphone.

We’ve got something for our besties on Android: auto dark mode!
When your device is set to dark mode, now you can have your Twitter app match automatically. Tap the ? icon at the bottom of the sidebar menu and turn on “Use device settings”.

On Windows 10, you can always switch between dark and light themes, and even decide if apps should honour the dark mode. Changing theme in Windows 10 affects native apps, Settings, taskbar, notification center, and built-in features, such as File Explorer and context menu.

However, it looks like Microsoft is finally rolling out a new server-side update to enable dark mode support for Windows Search. As you can see in the below screenshot, Windows Search results now appear in a dark background.

According to our tests, this update seems to be rolling out to Windows 10 version 2004 or newer. The entire Windows Search window, menus within the search panel or right-click context menu and even web searches powered by Bing now have full support for black backgrounds.

All search results irrespective of the filter (document, settings, pictures, etc) also have a dark background to match the rest of the user interface, such as the Settings and Start Menu.
This update is still rolling out in stages and it may not show up on all devices.

You can enable dark mode in the iOS Google Maps app by clicking on your profile picture (top right in the app) then pick “Settings” from the menu, then “Dark Mode” from the Using Maps section. There are three options available: On, Off, and “Same as device setting” which automatically turns dark mode on or off depending on what you have enabled globally in iOS.

Android users started getting dark mode back in February, although to enable it is a bit different than on iOS.

I always work in brightly lit rooms, with plenty of diffuse light at close to 7000k spectrum. So dark mode doesn't work in that setting.

Mozilla is working on a new feature in the organization's Firefox web browser that may be used to force a specific color scheme on sites you visit.

Most browsers support light and dark modes already, but the functionality is limited to painting the chrome of the browser using the color scheme. Website content remains unmodified when the feature is enabled or configured.

The latest Firefox Nightly version, version 96.0a1, comes with a new feature that extends the functionality. Once activated, sites will also be displayed in the selected color scheme.
All sites are displayed using the selected mode and color scheme. Firefox includes options to change some parameters, including text and background colors.

The feature was announced by Mozilla employee Morgan on Twitter.

Firefox users had to use browser extensions such as Midnight Lizard before to achieve something similar. Mozilla's implementation is bare bones at the time: there is no override option or option to customize the color scheme of a specific site using native options. Since it is been released in Nightly only at the time, it is possible that missing functionality will be added to improve the feature's usability.

Microsoft Paint on Windows 11 is getting dark mode – here’s a closer look

MS Paint recently received a new design in the Windows Insider channels and it will be getting support for dark mode in a future update on Windows 11. This is Microsoft’s latest effort to make native desktop apps ready for Windows 11’s new design using Fluent and Mica effect.

Thankfully, Microsoft is working on dark mode support and it can be enabled in the app right now if you’re willing to try a script developed by developer Ahmed Walid.

No need on this end of any GUI with a silly black background- Ya get plenty of fill for that with Windows COMMAND PROMPT
Dark Mode IMO is akin to Windows BSOD

I agree, ie it varies from person to person and can change over time too. When I was younger I didn't have a problem viewing black text on white backgrounds, but eventually I became more sensitive to screen brightness, especially at night, and now find white text on a black background more comfortable. By the way, there are often multiple dark styles available for websites via the Stylish extension; dark mode isn't limited to white text on black.

Microsoft announced that it would launch Dark Mode for the Word web client in May, but the company kept delaying the rollout for some reason. While it missed the deadline, the implementation of Dark Mode is equally good as on Word for Mac and Windows. When you enable it, the dark color scheme gets implemented on both the menu controls and the document background.

To implement the dark color scheme to Word for the web, you need to navigate to View > Dark Mode. If you do not like Dark Mode in canvas, you can click on the Switch Background button, and that will bring the white document background.

Bad enough the internet pages-especially one's deemed most important to read have GREY text (barely readable fonts) and light as heck enough it causes serious EYE STRAIN. I dunno- maybe DARK MODE is their solution.

For those unfamiliar, Auto Dark Mode lets you schedule theme switching and make Windows enable or disable dark mode at sunset, a specific time, or using a dedicated shortcut.
