thanks for the reply i have tried the link u gave and it suggest to download and use a program called spy hunter which needs payment to remove findings and doesnt fix the problem
Perhaps have a read here https://malwaretips.com/blogs/remove-your-mcafee-subscription-has-expired-today-popup/
These "malware removal" sites are mostly of no use whatsoever... If Malwarebytes and/or AdwCleaner didn't help, you could consider asking for help on a specialized forum like BleepingComputer.com.
It could also be an unwanted push notification in Edge. Instructions to remove these: https://www.lifewire.com/manage-notifications-in-microsoft-edge-5104663.
ooo, yes, I would disable the push notifications. I would also export all my favorites, uninstall Edge with a third party like HiBit, remove all the remnants and reinstall it cleanly. Then import just the favorites, nothing else. Then I would reset my network adapter. That stuff is dirty. Is uBlock Origin or another mainstream adblocker installed?
reset profil in worst case. and finally get a decent adblocker -> ublock origin ftw! your seriously only need one! and thats defender. preliminary is windows 10 or higher. first scan should be with adwcleaner, nothing else.
There is malware that even survives that... Example mentioned here: https://old.reddit.com/r/chrome/comments/uocnxf/how_to_remove_malicious_properties_extension/
after a little experimentation i found that denying internet access to WmiPrvSE.exe the pops no longer appear, still no luck with any virus / malware scanner finding amything but for now the problems seems to be fixed but there are probably other fixes or blocking to be done
On my DELL Windows 10 which i only this summer began to make more use of, i was getting not Edge popups from McAfee AV but apparently it was embedded in a bundle of sorts on my machine. It kept running a service, i killed and disable the service then it was in the process list a lot in Task Manager spiking memory like crazy. I had a dickens of a time finally ridding of it but wasn't easy. Uninstallers couldn't yank it and even after using the McAfee Clean Up Tool the thing was still in it. Eventually done a trackback in registry/drivers/files/temps etc manually and got rid of it. No signs of any longer not even in Edge.\ Hope you pin it down and rid yourself of that issue.
The safest approach in this case would be a clean reinstall (or seek professional advice first, as I suggested above)...
@zapjb- It's still the same, make no bones about that. Don't get me wrong, i am all for a good commercial AV but let's be realistic, some like McAfee seems offers or sells DELL Windows 10 and other name brand computer systems that bundle along with the laptops and they are a pain to yank them out of the system. Took me a better part of some hours to finally disengage it's components. Yes a user might uninstall it normally but it still leaves plenty embedded.
scam popup reappearing!? similar seen in a german forum. https://www.drwindows.de/xf/threads/vermeintliche-viruswarnung-defender-vertrauenswürdig.182093/ at least if it is popping up while browsing and seems to be a windows - close and forget. and install some adblocker.
