Open Shell brings back the glory days of the Windows Start Menu October 31, 2020 https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/ne...ack-the-glory-days-of-the-windows-start-menu/
Seriously, Open Shell is a life saver. I recently had to reinstall Win 8.1 on a friend's system and only then you realize just how dumb M$ was to remove the Start Button. And for sure I will also be using it on Win 10 when I look at how crappy the Start Menu looks with those stupid Live Tiles and what not.
Think that's something. Been doing summer refinement on my Windows 8-8.1's and it seems there's always an issue crops up due strictly because of Microsoft's stupidity of integrating parallel settings of duplication on the store part and the basic go-to settings as they were before that wild idea. Tweaking.com's windows store repair for that and other nuisances is been a massive relief when nothing else worked. And the internet/web is chalked with all sorts of fantasy peddling fixes, most of which if not all of them don't measure up to Tweaking.com By the way i still use OLD Classic Shell for every new reinstall to new disk and gathered up some really nice artistic metro images for the start button. All with a form of some animation whether gliding the pointer onto it or pressing the button.

Wow, this sounds quite troubling. So this means that you are stuck with the standard start menu? I must say, I recently saw it in real life, and it wasn't as bad as expected. But I don't like icons to be centralized and I would like to disable the ''pin to taskbar'' function, I prefer quick launch and the startbutton needs to be on the left. Why does Windows try to copy macOS, know what I mean?
no Start11 works and StartAllBack works, they are only 5 USD so I was asking about Open-Shell for our clients that don't want to pay. I checked 2 weeks ago and it didn't work at all the default Windows 11 loads. This is Star11 Start Menu, not a Windows 7 style that I picked, I chose a Modern style which is very similar to Windows 10 but better:
OK I see, I don't like the style in your pic at all, it looks like the original Win 8 menu. I think the standard Windows 11 start menu does look good, but I don't want it to be centralized. So in the end, Open Shell is probably the best solution for me, this would give me the old skool start menu back as seen on Windows XP. I also wouldn't to pay just to change the look of the start menu which I don't even use that much.
I second. I have tried severally to get used to Metro but to no avail. I couldn't help but always returned to Classic/Open-Shell with Win 7 style.
OK cool, then I wouldn't have any problems with it and I assume you can still disable pinning and enable Quick Launch by changing some registry setting. I honestly don't understand why they have removed the Quick Launch bar since Win 8.
