I must say this is quite an impressive extension, VideoDownloadHelper often fails to download certain videos, but this one seems to have found a way around sites that block video downloading. So nice find indeed! :thumb:

Why not just use bookmarks? Seems like an unneeded extension and I don't see how it has sped up your PC. And did you check out the problem with video downloader (by Flinn)? It doesn't download anything on TikTok.

I am bothered by Microsoft's "new tab" handling in Edge.
This extension undoes everything negative about it.
In Firefox it is not "necessary" but I put it in just to have a match between my 2 installed browsers.

OK I see, I have never been into speed dialing. But especially since extensions can often be malicious I would advice people to stay away from these silly extentions, but it depends on what you think is important I guess. And you keep ignoring my question about the video downloader!

I do not use (and do not want to use even for testing) Tik Tok.
It seems sillier to me to use TiK Tok than a SpeedDial extension.
But of course these are points of view.

You're kidding me right? I think you're confused because it was you who recommended this video downloading extension, so I wondered if it could download videos on your machine. And many people download videos from YouTube, Instagram and TikTok, so these speeddial extensions are a lot more silly IMO. Switch to Vivaldi is my advice, it has lots of customization options, also when it comes to speed dials.

It's not related to Russia, where do you get this from? I think you're confusing it with Opera, but even Opera is not Russian, it's related to China. Firefox and Vivaldi are probably the most trustworthy browsers. Brave is cool, but there's something fishy about those guys. And Chrome and Edge are spyware, everyone should know this by now.

Yeh i edited my comment, it's china not russia, same thing tho, both are very bad

More info about why vivaldi is so bad for privacy, start from top:

If you want a chromium-based browser, the only option is ungoogled chromium, imo. Everything else is ruined in some way or another

I'm not really impressed by those Reddits threads. Yes we all know that Chromium based browsers are all linked to Google, however Vivaldi isn't nearly as bad as Edge and Chrome. And with uBlock Origin it's possible to block most tracking related to websites. But completely blocking all tracking by Google, Meta and Microsoft is almost impossible since I'm actually using a lot of their services, think of Google Search, Instagram and Windows.

Is automatic translation of webpages only achievable with add-ons?
If so, could you recommend one please?
    TIA

In Vivaldi it's built-in, I must say it's quite a handy feature. I'm surprised that FF doesn't offer this.

for regular users AMO is recommended, github for nightly builds which may resolve issues but also can contain other issues. stay AMO!

Didn't test thoroughly but after installing this other, I found it much more appropriate to my likings at first glance.

The only connection to China that Vivaldi has is that Opera browser which a Chinese company now owns has the same founder as Vivaldi. If you have proof to the contrary, I'd be very interested in taking a look at it.

Also, most of the Reddit threads you shared in a later comment are couple of years old, at least. With new versions coming out every 8 weeks, the browser keeps evolving and improving all the time, so the old information is most likely outdated.
