I file named "eumkyxst.exe" (that should not be on my hard drive) is causing problems.

I ran spysweeper and it detected that, but im having troubles getting rid of it.

This eumkyxst.exe produces a file named zxywavs (for example), which my spysweeper deletes, but then this eumkyxst.exe file creates a new file (instead of "zxywavs" the file is now "wquqwhgdo"). So, no matter how many times I delete these weird files, more just keep appearing, which are all caused by the eumkyxst.exe.

I cant simply delete it, and if I try to remove it using spysweeper, the actual .exe doesnt get deleted, just some file that is running because of the .exe.

I also cant prevent this file from running on start up, because it uses those random file names.

Any suggestions on how to stop or delete this eumkyxst.exe file?

Ok, I've registered- sorry about the terrible name before, but all the "anonymous" and "guest" ones were taken- I figure the board has a block against names like that.

Anyways, r3l4x, i've sent a PM concerning your email address- if you email me, or PM me the address, maybe then I could send the file to you (not exactly sure why you want it, but im sure you know what you're doing).

As a rule, it's recommended to submit (possible) malware files to well known AV and AT companies. Not only because of th accuracy from the analysis and databasing - but to avoid spreading possible malware files overall as well.

    No offense intended, r3l4x and ross99 ;)

    regards,

    paul

Obviously it's important to send suspected files to well know AV and AT companies ;)

However I try to place at s.o.'s disposal my little knowledge to help others :)

    Regards :)

the files you sent to me it's a trojan downloader that downloads from a predefined url another file called adware BetterInternet.

You could try a scan with another anti-spyware like PestPatrol or Giant Antispyware and a scan with a trial version of Kaspersky antivirus

    Regards :)

ok, ive gotten rid of the file- yay

    thanks for the help :)

now i just have one more question (since i dont know a lot about computers):
-how can I access the the startup programs list?

there are some start-up programs (including some that were involved with the eumkyxst.exe file) and I'd like to delete them from the list.

    any feedback would be appreciated

looks good, but i was simply looking for the way to access the start-up list just from your computer- its a basic thing to do, but ive never found it.

my friend could tell me, but it'll be a day or two before i contact him, so i was hoping for some help here

Well, if you want to do it the boring way, click 'Start' then 'Run' and type 'msconfig'; finally click 'OK'. This brings up the System Configuration Utility - click the 'startup' tab. This will give you a list of startups.

    thanks

it closed down as soon as i opened it, yes another problem i have (alt+ctrl+delete also closes the window as soon as its opened), but dont worry about that problem- its been around ever since i got the computer :doubt:

my computer got badly screwed up from unreal tournament 2004- gave me an error, which i have to take in to a computer shop to fix.

also, norton anti-virus once nearly gave me a virus- i had to reboot my system because it also messed up my computer, so might i suggest not spending $500 (not sure euros for other people) for norton products.

Sounds like you're in real bad shape - with collapsing windows and all!
You're preaching to the converted on that one - I got rid of Norton months ago!!!
