I have just moved from Firefox to Chrome, both sandboxed (SB-Plus Classic 5.55.20, 64 bit). When I click an email hyperlink to the web (email not SB) it does nothing. It will work outside of the SB. I have all the boxes for Chrome in SB checked. Chrome is my default browser.

    How do I fix this?

    Thanks.

Sounds like you have a start/run restriction, chrome is not the problem. Do you see an error or literally nothing happens?

You may also have drop rights checked, I've had that cause issues before.

Is it possible you hid the error once and are not seeing it again?

If you add your email program to the restricted list it should run but beware, that means only programs on that list will ever run in the sandbox.

I doubt you need to have all those Chrome boxes checked, it reduces the security of sandboxing Chrome.

Literally nothing happens. If I take it out of the SB, it works fine. Now it's started to work. Hmmm.

Which boxes should I not check?

You mean those settings under applications right? You'll have to fiddle with it a bit.

We all use things differently so I'm not sure I can tell you exactly, but checking those boxes in general allows privileges of changing things in your chrome settings so the less checked the better while still having all the functionality you want and need.

For example, I only allow direct bookmark access since any bookmark changes I make I want to still be there after sandbox deletion.

I also run restricted and only allow Chrome and my email notifier to run. It works great but I'm the lowest level user you can imagine so I don't require much functionality.

Yes, under settings. Maybe I don't fully understand the words "allow direct access." Can you help me out? How do I determine what I need to check?

And again, I just clicked on a link in an email and nothing happened. No errors.

Do you have any start/run restrictions in the sandbox? That would usually stop a program from running just like you are seeing but you would see an error unless you hid it.

Maybe you don't have a default email client set up in Windows? Usually when you click an email link it starts your default program but if the sandbox doesn't know what that is it may do nothing.

Look at the setting that says email reader just below web browser under applications. Find your client and add it to the list. Worth a shot.

Those chrome settings are unrelated I believe, I'm far from an expert though. If you have them all checked it can't be the problem right?

Direct access is basically bypassing the sandbox security for that particular item.

Also, it looks like you are a few versions behind, try updating SBIE, I think it's up to 5.57 now.

Hopefully someone else responds that is smarter than me. Maybe try posting this question in one of the running threads on Sandboxie, they get a lot of views and responses.

The SBIE developer posts here often, his screen name is DavidXanatos, here's one of the threads.

    Good luck.

I don't have any restrictions, but oddly Outlook was not set as my default email client although it's all I've ever used. I changed it but it didn't affect the problem. I'll see what happens. I was going to uncheck some of the "direct access" boxes, but it looks like it's considered a small security risk based on my reads. Thanks for your help. Let me know if you have any more ideas. It worked for a while, so I've got to figure out what changed.
