A Simple Thanks

Just wanted to say Thanks to Wayne & Gavin. I spend the weekend cleaning trojan's off a "Norton Proteced" computer with TDS3 at my in-laws house. At last count we killed 15 trojan's and ton's of adware. Nice work and thanks for such an outstanding product.

 

BTW, I was using the demo version of TDS3. Any guess what I'm getting them for Christmas??

Hope your computer runs much nicer now?
Did you scan with TDS with all other scanners completely closed so TDS got them all?
Wondering which files your Norton didn't catch and why. Remebering a few of them?

We all submit our suspicious files to the TDS lab for investigation, (if not yet in the TDS primaries list) so it is growing and enables Gavin to refine detection.

Let me guess about your christmas present, TDS, ProcessGuard, Port Explorer, WormGuard, CryptoSuite, all the free products from the site, the extra goodies for the registered users, TDS scripts pack, etc.
All with a nice christmas feeling! Whatever it will be, all are wonderful products!

 

Jooske... what a mess.

The first thing I did was run norton and it found over 200 virus's . Most of them were hanging out in the I.E. cache directory. Norton took care of the cheep stuff but it didn't stand a chance agaist the big boys.

I then got TDS3, booted into safe mode and took care of the big boys. The worst one was teel3.exe. I don't remember all the rest it found, I should have saved a log.

Once i killed all the trojans we had to uninstall xp sp2, and install it again. One of the nasties had killed the xp firewall. The service just would not start back up... bastards.

 

Well being unable to start the XP firewall is a blessing
Let them use a better and more reliable real firewall instead!

 

I hear ya. The goal was to get any firewall up so I could re-connect the machine to the internet and get all the MS patch's installed.
