    The Emsisoft Support forum is now gone. It's replaced with a help and chat page.
    Tried the chat out yesterday. Was answered almost straight away.

    I wanted to know how quickly they would remove the link in the GUI to the Community Support Forum, of course now it goes to the help and chat page instead of the forum.

    Re the above about EEK. I can confirm there is a problem in getting the free version.

    When I download it (on a system without EAM installed) and then click to install it does change into the new ERK name. However no matter what I do after install I get the screen below.
    Even going to C\EEK and then clicking on StartScanner.exe I still get the problem.

    They need to work on this problem quickly.

    what is the contents of the a2settings.ini? specifically the "ProductEdition"? you could maybe try to change/edit that? (only a guess)

    mine (an updated working still EEK) shows

    [General]
    Revision=2
    Language=en-us
    EULAAccepted=1
    WSCAllowed=1
    Initialized=1
    ProductEdition=EEK
    Theme=darknight
    SectionsCount=37
    QuarantineCountCache=0

    kC_ My non-working EEK settings look the same. It was worth a try though.

    I have the same problem. I download the free EEK and the remediation version runs and asks me to buy a license. I tried removing C:/EEK and running emsiclean but
    nothing helps.
    Thanks for confirming the problem.

    Download it from uptodown.com. It's an older version but will update and run.

    If you have an older version it will still work as a free scanner. I have an older version that I updated yesterday and it still works.

    Same here. I just tried updating & running an existing installation on one of my machines. The application itself didn't require a restart on completion of the update (like it sometimes does). It still works & is still called Emsisoft Emergency Scanner, License: free for personal use. This must just be for new installations, and perhaps installations that update the app as well as the definitions (which is what I assume it's doing when it asks to be re-started).

    The old version updated and works fine for me, but I noticed that some settings are missing (like Direct Disk Access).
    Also, when a Custom Scan begin it now show 3 stages (and before they were 5) with only drive C selected.
    The main GUI now feels a bit empty as well.

    Did some testing with the latest version. Edit a2settings.ini by adding Type=8 under [LicenseType]. Run it once and try to update it. You will be asked for a license and the setting will change to Type=14. Change it back to 8 and it should stay that way...and you should be good to go.
    Can someone please confirm this works for them also?

    In addition to my previous post, I also noticed a bug. There are two icons in the taskbar area with this version

    or it is only me?

    I am getting that too since the most recent update to the free scanner. Also, not sure if it always showed up as such, but in Task Manager it lists two processes for the scanner...

    Looks like a server is down as there have been no updates for Emsisoft Anti Malware for a day now.
    Asked about it via online chat but no one was online at the time.

    This is exactly what I have chosen, but the option is missing after the latest update. The program needed a restart to load the new modules and I saw that the double windows bugs is fixed, but scan priority is missing.
