Let me tell you a short story:
When I came home from work, yesterday evening, my dentist called me on the phone.
But it was not about my teeth, but about what his new employee did.
She operated the computer at the reception and opened an email file attachment, xyz-invoice.img
Then she was shocked, to see an invoice, €130.000 for a new Ferrari.

    What happened?
the img file was mounted as virtual dvd drive, containing a hta file, that was automatically opened in a browser, to show the invoice.
In the background it tried to execute an obfuscated power-shell script...

No side-loading, but just social engineering.

Does prevented side-loading protect from this?

meh, nothing is 100% secure. it's not possible to make a 100% secure software system. that said, apple's closed ecosystem approach with tight control mechanism and strict regulations gives you a pretty secure software system. and social engineering has nothing to do with how secure
    a software system is.

That is why education is important. Anything else gives just false sense of security.

Sure. But reality shows that this doesn't work for lots of people. Regardless if it's about computer security, vaccination against Covid-19, etc. They must be protected against their own stupidity.

There's a lot of truth in that.

I don't want Apple to nanny me.
I don't want to live in a walled garden.
    No risk, no fun.

USA still the best. But barely.
I take slight umbrage at this comparison. With enough computer security knowledge one can protect against remote computer threats. But I can't look at a person & say they don't have Covid.

I expect the 70% vs 25% market share in favour of android, would show higher numbers of infection than apple....depending on how its spun of course
