@cruelsister - Could you pretty please post a Full Link of the ComodoFW ONLY. I DO NOT want that little 5MB internet installer but the whole ComodoFW latest you use without having to depend on Comodo to require internet connection to finish the installation. It use to always be simple finding it but they seem to demand that small 5Mb first then let the internet server finish installing. I don't want that.

After the standalone installer is in they are welcome to tie in anyway they want afterwards. Guaranteed the standalone latest is a lot larger than that 5Mb.

Easter- First off, note that the version of Comodo (8026) is specific to CIS (which you don't want). However the current build of just CF (8012) is the 5mb file you mention. It's small because it is devoid of any add-ons (like the browser and the AV database).

But you don't need to hunt for an offline installer as you can shut off your network prior to running the 5mb install file that can be found in the usual places; namely either:

https://personalfirewall.comodo.com/ (hit the "Free Firewall" tile for cfw_installer.exe) or

    https://download.comodo.com/cis/download/installs/8050/standalone/cfw_installer.exe (for the file: cmd_fw_installer_138430009_eb.exe)

Both are identical and I verified that they can be installed easily without any Internet connection available, but needless to say if you want KillSwitch (and I'm sure you do) this should be downloaded via the "Watch Activity" tile on the main GUI.

Many cheers and thanks!! And absolutely on KillSwitch :thumb: "Optimal Result"
EDIT: Installed to my Windows 10 and I may have it on overkill. WiseVector running alongside COMODO-FW and even with Defender On plus ERP- Which of these is safe to Omit now CFW + WiseVector are in tandem-Its been awhile since I even toyed with Windows 10

Totally Giddy!! I can't run up the appreciation flag high enough for all that you do @cruelsister and your always pinpoint precise summations generously shared. I almost forgot how super effective (and fun to watch) COMODO FW and in combo WiseVector StopX was.
No other program is responsible for my returned inspiration to begin earnest testing again of the worse malware that can be pieced together, and this time document in detail & lists as a way of forming a journal of sorts. AND hopefully brush up on trying video skills I gotten away from for awhile. Thanks everyone for your replies, posts, and bringing attention to it again in this manner.

Guess next step will be to purchase a new lappy with 11 on it since I only updated Windows 10 last night (long process from last time 2021) and installed CFW along with WV. Windows 8.1 as most know is my keepsake but ready to hammer testings with such a powerhouse array of combos that 8.1 just doesn't have the belly for anymore.

Oh. Ok got that. You are pretty learned in Browser Add Ons and that manner of user facing/client side security I think.

Makes sense to me too. :)
Returning a bit to topic, Comodo FW 'single-installer' (newest/latest version) downloaded and installed onto 10 just fine without so much as a burp or a hiccup. I could have sworn I tried finding that single installer once before but always somehow ended up with one that demanded live internet to continue. Oh no matter, this time am hanging on to it.

I have had an enormous gathering of secured malware always pinned down just yearning to take their crack at Comodo's containment box. They will get that chance. There seems in maybe the past 2 or better years is been a population overload of baddies almost too many to mention. Micro computer code you would think by now, would have been newly invented over in many ways in order to make it more inert from tampering but just the opposite has ensued instead.

    Hi @ CruelSister

I wanted to try Comodo Firewall (Firewall only) along with your settings. I watched your video and downloaded the installer as per this:

    https://download.comodo.com/cis/download/installs/8050/standalone/cfw_installer.exe (for the file: cmd_fw_installer_138430009_eb.exe)

I turned off my ethernet connection but the file would not install and an error message displayed saying no internet connection.

Any ideas what the problem is?

    Thank you for your help.

    Terry

That file should be ~5.5 MB and is the regular installer which needs a network connection to download the FW application. Turn the network back on and there shouldn't be any issues.

    Hi Cruelsister

Thanks for your prompt reply. I thought from the conversations in this thread that using the online installer would install more than just the basic firewall. People were asking for an offline installer to avoid this. Or so I thought. Have I got it wrong?

    Thanks

    Terry

Absolutely the Comodo KillSwitch is also a must-have - BTW i did add it by pressing the Watch Activity in the CFW Tile.

CFW is still a very versatile interesting piece of work where the Containment feature AND various logging really shines, always did, still does. File Rating is the cream of the crop too. On the Win 10 there are various 'safe' actions that find themselves logged in 'Containment' but of no real relevance so i continue to allow them 'trapped' then clear them from 2 identified screens so they aren't confused with something i may be testing at the time.

I hope Easter will let us know how CF behaves,in the meantime my recent experience: granted that in my two decades dealing with firewalls (even the most diifficult one which was the first Jetico, which i only understood with STEM help) I never encountered difficulties making rules, I had to ditch WFC (no mistake,I like it) because i wasnt able to make one and nobody offered help.
So i went back after 2/3 years to the only firewall which was simple and granular enough to exclude communication via IP or MAC with other devices on the LAN, that is COMODO.
We are talking of a Windows11 computer here and i reasoned out that ,in spite of comodo not officially recommending it for 11, the latter was in my opinion just a refurbished 10 with some more telemetry,so why not try CF in it?

The difficulties in getting the right firewall only file to download were great and one full install including AV and HIPS crashed and was eliminated, but then I searched and found cruelsister's posts -whose method i always followed- and succeeded in installing just the firewall part.

Now it's about a month I am using Comodo Firewall only with everything flagged apart from HIPS (I dont use) and following cruelsister dictum to keep it simple in a Windows 11 pc and everything went ok.
In another pc I have kept VodooShield and WFC, but I have a feeling using Comodo Firewall plus Containment can speed up a bit a computer, although it needs more attention, like erasing the containment etc.
I look forward to how the new comodo partnership will forge the next program in the spring, but in the meantime I am satisfied with the old one, with loads of thanks to cruel people!
