After TB update I have a problem. I use Gmail. Have 3 mail accounts. When I start TB on my desktop i type my main password. After that I am aksed to type in password for Gmail for each account. And here is where it fails. TB tell me it cannot connect to gmail.

When I log into Gmail on web I use same password and it works fine. No problems. What do do?

i guess its not TB, its Oauth2 since 1.6 (or shortly later). search this forum for "gmail" or "oauth2", it was already discussed.

Thanks. But I still dont understand what is wrong. It happened only two days ago. I dont know Oauth2. TB has worked for me many years. Never problems. Why now? Should i remove TB and reinstall? Then what about all my settings?

Thank you. I try to compare. This screenshot is from the tutorial. OAuth2 is not an option in my TB like in the tutorial. Thunderbird.png

    @tepe2,
I have no experience with Gmail, but I read oAuth 2.0 authentication needs Thunderbird to accept cookies.
Is there any chance Thunderbird is not set to accept cookies?
    See:
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/automatic-conversion-google-mail-accounts-oauth20
    https://www.ghacks.net/2022/04/06/thunderbird-91-8-0-makes-important-changes-to-google-mail-accounts/

    Edit
I notice that information is also in the Mozilla Thunderbird OAuth2 configuration info that Brummelchen referred to, so my post is redundant.

My TB is set to accept all cookies.
This is probably too complicated for me.
Is there another client I could use instead of TB?

Yes, they are. GMail will require OAuth2 from them too.

Why does not TB fix this in updates?
I dont understand why I cannot find OAuth2 in my TB. I have newest version.

ofc you can, but this would not change a proper setup of the client concerning oauth2. you will run into same questions.
which version of thunderbird are you using? the current stable and secure version is 91.10.0.

and location for selection has not changed since v78

nope, its helpful as you linked the official mozilla help.

btw i forgot to ask. did you miss all of the notification mails from google concerning 2FA and OAuth2? google has sent since beginning 2022 that they will change.

I have not received any mail from Google about 2FA so far. Yesterday I set up 2FA anyway. Apparently not all users have been notified yet. Germany is not marching at the forefront of digitization.;)

I works well for me. Can you double confirm you have version 91.6.* or above i.e. 91.8.* where * is a wildcard (you can substitute it with any number)?

I see your posted screenshot for outgoing (SMTP) settings. Try incoming (IMAP or POP3) settings first (from link posted by Stupendous Man)
Maybe if you don't want to reconfigure it, remove account from account settings, restart Thunderbird then add account again?

I have TB 32-bit. But my Windows is 64-bit. Should I download 64-bit TB or it does not matter?

I don't think it matters. I think I might found similar problem. Find "Chosen solution" on this page.
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1282430

I see that Brummelchen posted mostly OAuth settings for Office365 instead of GMail. They are quite similar, but obviously things like server domains are different. Here are current IMAP settings for GMail:

It was in the account settings not the general preferences. I had to change for all 3 og my accounts.

it does matter, its faster and not memory limited.
but be aware that thunderbird acts like firefox - it creates a new profile when switching the installation folder. so its better for your karma when you stay on 32-bit unless you want it not simple.

see our screenshots! dutch is not that far awar from german...
and you should hide your email address

Previously on v91.11, I was able to drag and drop the blue Thunderbird App button off of the toolbar. In 102, I can drag and drop it, but it keeps reappearing on the toolbar after I relaunch Thunderbird the next time. Has anyone managed to keep it hidden?

The hamburger button still can be hidden in the overflow container via customize with Thunderbird. The problem of it reappearing on the toolbar is caused when the uBO extension is enabled on TB 102. No idea if a bug in TB 102 may be causing this. Can someone try the following steps to see if they have the same issue:

1.Disable uBO if installed on TB v102 or portable
2.Hide Hamburger menu in Thunderbird v102*
    3. Install or enable uBO
    4. Hamburger Menu reappears along with uBO button on the toolbar

Edit: I opened a ticket on Bugzilla

What you posted is simply incorrect. What I was trying to resolve here turns out to be a Thunderbird bug I reported which should be fixed in the upcoming 102.1.

my bad, just tried it and it works, charming thx. although i wont consider removing for several reasons i share with firefox...about the "Quickfilter" button - windows i can remove it, it stays removed after new start (its a portable with no extension or themes like yours) - thats why your image above looks so different as it would be styled. same for the app button (hamburger menu/Anwendungsmenü). TB 102.0.3 x64

so your issue is related and might be caused from uBo. i see that it was fixed, the 102.1.0 RC2 is ready on mozillas server.

trial to reproduce with uBo. you did not mention it at your first post. confirmed.
but there is also another issue - i can see uBo button twice now in the customisation window.
and as it is uBo releated i would involve gorhill to have a look at it.

    TB 102.1.0 resolve both issues.
