Yes! I've put the app through its paces and it does a really fine job covering all the bases SD does imo.

The CIMIF may be the problem then, because I see that the SD driver is reported as being incompatible.

The incompatibility with the SD driver (diskpt.sys) shouldn´t cause any unexpected problem, because Windows doesn´t activate CIMIF if the driver is present, and reports the problematic drivers.

I never understood why the developer got rid of the iconic shadow defender "eye" logo. It was perfect. The "new" S-logo just looks cheap imho.

I don't think this is of any use to change system tray icon or the GUI.

Well SD doesn't reside it the system tray - just on the desktop and/or taskbar. Here's how to replace SD's current icon:

Resize the 'eye' jpg (link above) to desktop size (e.g., 100%=48x48, 125%=60x60) and save it as 'eye.ico 'in the SD folder. Then right-click on the current SD shortcut icon (on desktop) for its Properties and select Change Icon, changing it to your saved 'eye.ico' icon - voila!

This might be of interest to some having installation problems with Shadow Defender.

2 years no news. this could mean "runs perfect for windows 10 and 11". or you are missing money. 2018 and 2020 for major releases is ok, but i dont see any alpha or beta builds or new features.

i have set up win10 from scratch, win11 on another computer, my use with SD is very limited while using sandboxie most if the trials.

Thanks @sdmod :thumb: Although this particular feature so far hasn't impeded Shadow Defender (also installed on my Win 10 Home)- That (other) 8 forum is been a very rich resource for all my 8.1 tweaks and useful refinements. No doubt now that 10 is prevalent such articles and discussions as well as 'tweaks' can help remedy software issues on 10 as well.

Of course I am, and have done for a few years now... no issues. The only thing to remember is you have to have FastBoot turned off.

but what about the wear and tear it adds to your ssd that might significantly shorten its lifespan?

It has had no affect on my ssd as regards wear and tear. I don't have it running all the time, it's usually when I want to test something either a piece of software or change C drive settings etc to see what affect it would have.
Reboot afterwards and it never happened.

I don't have any special settings for it, just default.
It's a great piece of kit, I even bought 2 licences and also have a shareware on sale one.
Always worked for me without any issues.

Let's keep our fingers crossed it remains just like it's been all along. Just plain works and does as intended without fuss.
DS and SD are my (2) longest running programs (different purposes) that have outperformed and outlasted longer than imagined.
