Thanks for the info!!! A lifetime subscription for K7 is, by far, the least expensive I have seen lately for any AV's paid versions.

I bought a two year Ultimate for $19.00. I have never used/tested K7, but I must say it does speed up my access to sites, launching programs, etc.>far more than expected.

Protection seems to be adequate and even PC Magazine thought their ransomware protection was first rate. Not a cheerleader, and frankly a skeptic- but time will tell.

K7 is good. Not the best but good. It's just not "smart", there are times it will prefer to ask the user than to make an own decision. If you set it to Max protection settings, it will even alert you if programs got updated and the exe file now has a different certificate due to the update. For average Joe you can't use it on max settings, but for others this may be very good.

With all settings at Max, K7 is excellent for my purposes, @Firecat.

When surfing, I usually visit just a few news sites, Amazon, & Wilders each day -- not much else. As an experiment after I read your Post #53 above, however, I decided to give myself a bit more exposure so I surfed all over the place for a few hours, but K7 was quiet all the time.

So I turned off all my security apps except for K7, and used Shadow Defender to do some "virtual" surfing in riskier areas. I got 3 alerts from K7 over about a 4+ hour period of messing around that way. I uploaded each of those alerts to VirusTotal, & all were verified. Good-oh, wot?

So far, I am very satisfied with K7 -- feather light on my aging laptop, updates its sigs multiple times daily, and seems to be doing its job quietly & effectively.

=>HELP please --- Does anyone know how to disable (turn off) K7's firewall? I prefer a different firewall and I don't want 2 firewalls running at the same time.

Click on "Details >>" which is located at the right of "Protection Status," scroll down to "Firewall Protection" and the turn off Application Control, Rule Filtering and Intrusion Detection.

I believe it's just an addon to Windows Firewall rather than it's own one.

@roger_m -- THAT's just the answer I needed. Thanks!!! (I thought FW settings would be found under Settings. Silly me. )

Well so far K7 is working just fine on my laptop. No slow down or noticeable problems at all. Might deserve a little more time.

Same here, bigC! Not only is K7 THE lightest of all full-scope AVs but it also tests very high at AV-Comparatives. I recommend it to all my friends and family -- coupled with OSArmor, the zenith of all Behavior Blockers.

I bought a 5 PC / 3 year license for K7 Antivirus Premium, this is like the lightest AV I've used and I like that it has no bloatware.

There is a desktop shortcut for K7 Antivirus on my desktop which I cannot delete even if I take ownership and disable the AV. It says access denied. Can anyone tell me how to get rid of it?

Edit: I booted into safe mode then I was able to delete it.

PROBLEM: When K7 pops-up an alert, it automatically leaves the screen VERY quickly. It doesn't give me enough time to read it.

QUESTION: Is there a way to specifiy the amount of time that alerts will be displayed? Better yet, is there a way to turn off the automatic removal of an alert? (I looked but could find NO way to fix this problem.)

I sent this question to K7 support & got an answer 2 days later. Very courteous, of course. They said this issue has been passed along to K7's GUI design team and "they will consider making GUI improvements to resolve this issue." I'm not holding my breath waiting for this to happen.

K7 has a new AI component called "MAT". MAT is described on their website as follows:

Happy News for users of existing non-MAT licenses:
It seems K7 is rolling out the MAT version to them as well, at no extra cost.

Recently, on two machines of mine, K7 Ultimate Security (Infiniti version) autoupgraded from v16 to v17 (MAT version). It required a reboot though upgrading to v17.0.0964 (from a lower v17 release).

Did someone test their stand-alone tool and how it performs?
